vanes wrinckled
 

are wrinlked vanes a problem will the wrinlkes affect the flight of the bolt if so how do u make them flat again after shooting them intoyour target thanks any info will be appreciated

Heat, try a hair dryer..:D

I don't think they cause a flight issue, I have one vane that is pretty wrinkled, shoots as good as the rest.. I believe once they leave the bow the pressure on the the vanes is so uniform the wrinkles do not actually exist in flight.

Sometimes a hairdryer will take the wrinkles out. I dislike vanes that do that.

I havent used plastic vanes in years, if it was a feather I'd say hold it over a pot of boiling water, then steam will bring it right back to life...

but back when I usedthem I didnt have any problems with wrinkled vanes causing any kind of a problem, in fact I'd say it would probably be more work trying to keep them straightened out than it would ever be worth, when mine got too bad or torn I'd just replace the vane

in fact when I bought my thunderbolts they had plastic vanes and I shot them some before swaping over to feathers and they all developed wrinkles from shooting through my foam deer target, they didnt cause any problems that I noticed

Same here, hairdryer! Then smooth 'em out using thumb and forefinger. Works pretty good.

EXCELLENT Thread....you guys just saved mealil money...i had a set of arrows ,i was going to get refletched because of the crinkled vanes and i just went up stairs and tried the dryer move...and its works great!!! Thanks Buds...i've been bowing hunting for 37 years.....who says you can't teach and old dog new tricks!!!!!!!!!! Honkers45!!!
