Hunting arrow weights

I been doing some matching up of my arrows with the Slicks I just got.

How close do you guys keep your total arrow weight to each other to use for hunting?

I spent the last 30 minutes taking weights of just the arrow and then of the broad heads and crunched all the numbers to pair them up to be close as possible. I got a spare ferrule at home I will also check the weight on since one of my 100gr heads actually weighed in at 98.767 while the other 2 weighed in at 100.310 and 100.311 grains.

So far I got the 3 closest at
432.106
433.649
432.106

I was amazed I got 2 exactly alike, had to reweigh them to just make sure I didn't fudge a number somewhere.

When I started to refletch I was going down the weight path and was starting to drive myself nuts! I found that just a tad more glue can make up one grain! I realized that I was making myself insane so I make sure they are within a few grains and I don't worry about.

You can take this to the Bank! Up or down 5-8 grs. Yer CB won't knowed the difference until you go out 40 yds. or more!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I figured a few grains +/- wouldn't have to much of a difference. Just curious how close everyone like to keep them.

I know what your talking about Hotburn when refletching. I have my weights written down in a little spiral book.

plain arrow with no fletchings weigh in an average of 302.50 grains

each of my fletchings weigh in at 9.25 grains

requires around 2 grains of glue to apply them to the shafts

its truely an addiction, don't help that my job requires me to weigh material all day and I mustreport everything to the 100th of a gram.

I have gold Tips that run from 380 to 446 w/ 100 gr points, don't ask me how they are that far apart, lol, but they will all hit a 2" circle at 30 yds w/ same aim point on scope.

As an old varmit/bench rest rifle shooter, this is a bitter pill for me to swallow, lol, but it's true. recently tested 100 gr poins vs 125 gr and dang near had a Hood at 30. The ones w/ bheads in my quivwer all weigh w/in a couple of grains, lol. Old habits die hard!!
