This has been discussed on many of the xbow forums I frequent. My opinion, not needed, more trouble than it's worth. All you have to do is take a shot at 10 yds, hopefully you are on the target, then go to 20, 30, or whatever. I've rarely adjusted a scope from 10 yd poi, don't use red dots, but it's the same principle. I'll also go out on a limb here and say that the real problems w/ a set up don't start to show up til 30 yds.

I've shimmed a laser used for sighing in my guns. It works but not particularly close to point of aim.

Dan is right, you don't need to use a lazer but it will get you really close. I've done. I put it under the string and it saved me a couple of shots, big deal!

Haven't tried that yet, but I should think they would be hard to
get out of the target--He,He!:D:D

As said above it would not be worth the effort in doing it. When shooting a rifle out to a hundred yards, you can be way off and miss target completely and is helpful with this and is beneficial when considering the cost of ammo. But if you put a scope on and can not hit a 2'*2' target at five to ten yards then you may have big problems. Plus you reuse your arrows so its not like it cost you ammo. Not worth the work IMO.
