Dryed fired my friends bow
 

I was helping my friend set up his new crossbow when it made a funny noise when I pulled the trigger, oops I had dry fired it, MAN them ten points are nice the string only traveled a inch before the safety device
caught it, they work. Think my next bow might be a ten point.

Good thing it was caught, handy little feature it seems.

Now why was the safety off, and on top of that why was your finger on the trigger when your helping someone else with a cocked crossbow?

Not trying to attack you. But this is the first thing that popped into my head reading your post. I have seen someone blast a hole in his trucks floorboard with his shotgun from not paying attention, not to count carrying a loaded weapon and not using the safety. Also seen a coworker almost shot from 5ft away when my bosses gun malfunctioned allowinghis shotgun to firewhen he clicked the button tochamber his round on his semi autoat a company sheet shoot.

You are assuming that he did it on accident, I read it that he was ready to shot and pulled the trigger on purpose. I took it as he forgot to place a arrow in it. Good thing you have the dry fire mech on it, as much as them things cost you may have lost a friend over it!

I made the assumption the bow was in Martin's hands alone. Nothing to suggest improper bow handling. Well except the brain fart aspect.
An old Pal-O-Mine was hunting in Maine and the whole bunch of them had loaded guns in the MV. ( Sort of a tradition there ) and they saw a green pick up truck in the rear view. This dope starts working the lever on his 30/30 and it went off catching him right thru the elbow. Finished his days as a lobsterman. He is what I refer to as a MORON!!!

"Helping someone set their bow up" is a polite way of saying you did it for them. It's faster to do it yourself and a heck of alot less frustrating. Most times, the friend benefits from the setter uppers prior experience. Bet our buddy Martinfaw has set more than a few up, and IIRC, has some killer bow fishing rigs he designed!! Dry fires are alot like speeding tickets. Go too fast, ya gotta pay!
