Arrows Adding Weight
After reading the site over acrossed the pond! I went to back room and tried to put a 2013 inside one of of my 2213's. Nice snug fit, now i have an arrow that has thickness of .026! That should be very stiff and good heavy wt. fer penetraion, and they said it really puts the quiet on string vibes and limbs. I shall try this soon.

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
I have pulled the insert on an old 2013 i had laying around from my Spoiler 3-D shooting tournament days. I cleaned the featers off and nockand will cut it off on arrow saw shortly.[8D]

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
DNK, that site told me sorry charlie no gotta match![:o]I think i will be able to put 21" 2013 shaft inside the 2213 arrow then cut off a2213 insert and glue it in the end fer a flat nok. Just a rough guess in total wt. about 500grs.

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
I cleaned up all 9 2013's, might get to cut them off tomorrow after i make a transport run. Didn't get to it today. Had a man come over wanting to shoot the Excal. So i showed him and answered his ?'s and he shot. He was thinking of getting a Phoenix, after shooting the Exocet 200. I think he will get one them.:D

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
I just weighed my new log setup. 558.5 grs. which should give me about 288 fps from my Exocet 200:D

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
wow, you arent too far from getting into the solid fiberglass fishing arrow range... :D
|
RE: Arrows Adding Weight
I am looking fer a 2016 arrow or shaft to slide inside my 2216's. Then weigh it on scale see if it gets up around the 600gr. mark. Just to see how quiet it is.

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
I found some fiberglass arrows that fit perfect in a gold tip and made 6
arrows with blazer vanes weighing right at 600 grains, gona try them on bar this season. Martin |
RE: Arrows Adding Weight
how much of a drop difference is there between those and the lighter weight arrows?
after I posted that last comment I went out and grabbed a bare fishing arrow(32" solid fiberglass, no point or fletching) and it weighed 1195gr which is 37.3gr/inch, so cut down to 20" it should weigh around 746gr they're the same dia asa 20/64" arrow so they're somewhat smaller than the 22/64" arrows used for crossbows andeven smallerthan the 21/64" arrows that I hear of some people using, I cant tell for positive sure but they also dont seem to be a stiff splined as regular fiberglass crossbow arrows I wonder how they would fly out of a crossbow |
RE: Arrows Adding Weight
I reckon the fiberglas fish arrow cut down should have enough spine to be safe shooting out of CB. Loss of speed on my 558.5 gr. setup is around 45-50 fps. So its going to be in the area of a Vixen, with a big thump![8D]

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
martinfaw, them arrows ought to turn that bar every way but loose! KLS, on arrow drop up close to 35 yds. won't be much few extra inches. I'll just sight it in like always, i don't shoot deer or other big game farther than 35 yds.[:-][:o]

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
Smoke old fellow.. Have you thought abought using a piece of Rebar? Seems that with a little file work you could end up with just about the perfect weight and spine. Heck, you won't even need a broadhead. you can just point a point onto it at your forge.

RE: Arrows Adding Weight
Thats why spears are so effective, lots of penetration goes with the weight![:o][:-]
|
RE: Arrows Adding Weight
So tell me smoke old friend... Do you do alot of spear hunting?
I watched a show on TV about a guy tring to use a "atlatal" and it might have worked if he had ten buds and a charging mastadon. |
RE: Arrows Adding Weight
Actually no i don/t i just used it as an example. Now our native americans used them with good success!:D[8D][&:][:o][:-]
