RE: Coyote hunting tomorrow!
They are getting close to calving, that why the yotes are there right now, opportunists.
I guess the cows will eat their own nasty afterbirth as a form of self preservation, to help keep the yotes at bay. I didn't find out on time if I could bait for them, I have about 25 lbs of meat that I was going to try.. Maybe next time.. |

ewww yea i watched a calf get born the other day and it was nasty. i've lived on a farm for 13 years and that's the first time i've seen it. I'm good for another 13 years[:'(]
Our cows dont usually eat the afterbirth, they make me pick it up witha pitchfork and bury it[:@] |
RE: Coyote hunting tomorrow!
When I used to hunt them full time, they have a habit of hanging out
about 50 to 70 yards started with a stewart ele.call and switch to a Cerice squeeker mouth call brings them in at a dead run!I also used the old verson of the old Rigger Rabbitt and it was a hands down deal once they heard the mouth call and saw the rabbit it was duck soup! What they did to the dairy cows around here was scary, they would circle one and one would grab a hold of the tail and hang on until it broke off, didnt believe it until a farmer had me sit in his combine and I saw it first hand!I killed over 100 on his properity alone. On the farm next to his,1800 acres there were 32 coyote dens on the place![8D] |
RE: Coyote hunting tomorrow!
Thanks for the tips and stuff guys! Didn't get a shot at any but they were certainly around.. The farm was a bust, no place to hunt from so we headed to the property I frequent daily.. Saw some deer and piles of yote tracks but nothing to shoot at.. On the way back to my truck we came across a head with about 20" of spine laying on the trail we had crossed only an hour before.. Figured it was some kind of warning from the miserable little things.. I would have went back out later towards the evening for another attempt but the green beers got the best of me.:D
Now the new guy in town has a few places to go hunting this season. |
