Getting old serving off

When the old serving is worn nearlly out getting it off is no problem but
I'm having a hard time getting it off when it is not, figure some of you old farts might know a better way.

Thanks
Martin

i twist the string in the direction it takes to loosen the serving. then i carelully slip a knife or scissors under the serving and snip it.:D

Take a sharp pointed toothpick, push it up under end of serving and then cut serving over toothpick. You may nick the toothpick but not the string.

That is a great idea Mike. I just look for the tag end that has been served over and slice the top of that ridge a little at a time. I do not use the end of the razor so its like using a wood plane. I just take a little at at time until I see that tag end.
