This was brought on by my having to put up my only pocket knife. Its and older Colonial made in RI. My son gave it to me when he was 4, he found it out in Grampa's shed. It had plastic fake bone handles and part on one side was broke out! My son will be 28 and my youngest. Sentimental its priceless![:-][:o]:D:)I about lost it several times so i put it up before i do sumpen real dumb like that!

I called Kershaw and Marbles and a few others and all their small pocket and lockers are made in China. Japan owns a third of USA and now China owns another third![&o]

I've had people give me steel from china, I wont use it for a boat achor. I use 1095 spring and 304 stainless for making my knives. I like high carbon content makes the best knives as far as I am concerned.

Sad but true, "if you want to play, you gotta pay". I figure a good knife can be had for around $100.00. I like Kershaws for being "good" for the price no matter where they are made. My knife maker is pretty good and reasonable. Here's one of his creations. His name is Jamie McGowan.

Mike, I forgot to say that Cold Steel knives are made in Japan and are great knives. Not the best but are a step above many knives made in the US or Germany. Having said that the best knife steel I own is in my 15 yr old Boker. I once field dressed a moose and a couple of deer and didn't have to touch it up during the process and I'm fussy about the sharpness of my blades. The blade has never chipped or stained but the design leaves a tiny bit to be desired. My custom knives have to be touched up every two or three deer. So big deal!
