Dry fire
Yep I did it. Had my head up my butt and dry fired my x-bow. Can not see any cracks, splits, fray's ect... Is damage an instant thing or is it something that can and will creep up on me in my sleep:(

RE: Dry fire
My vote is instant. However, the damage can be subtle. On a recurve, you may have limb splinters that you don't notice for awhile. I had a Quad 400 blow up possibly due to too light an arrow, which is a form of dry-fire and it was like a grenade went off. A compound type may not show any obvious signs, but have timing issues, don't know much about them. If you didn't see any damage and it still shoots ok you should be good to go.

RE: Dry fire
I can't tell ya, as i only had one strange shot. I must not have gotten arrow nok snug against lock as it fell short of target by a few inchs! Thats all over a year and half.

ORIGINAL: retiredarmy Yep I did it. Had my head up my butt and dry fired my x-bow. Can not see any cracks, splits, fray's ect... Is damage an instant thing or is it something that can and will creep up on me in my sleep:( Run a cotton pad along all surfaces of the limbs cocked and at rest(thats a good idea to do periodically on any bow). If its a compound then take it in to have the axles checked. If its a Excal well then check it the first five times you dryfire it! Again, which bow do you have? |
RE: Dry fire

Shoot's great. matter in fack might just shoot a little better. shot another groupe of 3 and destroyed one bolt, sent one through the middle of another. Don't know if the picture showed up or not. It's the one I pm you Smoke. Will invest in cotton, thanks all[&:]

RE: Dry fire
Dry Fire? Whats that? I like to think that my arrows were going so incredibly fast that I just couldn't find them.
I have lost count of how many of those I have done. |
RE: Dry fire
