RE: thanksgiving
Hope that everyone had a nice Turkey Day. Got to hunt with my son and his six year old daughter on Thanksgiving Day.They were sitting in a stand at our place in Garvin County, OK. Katie heard a buck grunt. Here come this ratty oldbuck that had been a 2x2, but had broken one point off. My son shot him through the lungs with my .30-06 at about 90 yards. The deerran about 75 yards and dropped dead.
The load: Federal case, W/Wprimer, 49 grains of IMR 3031 and a 150 grain Sierra boat tail bullet. The bullet left a1.5 inch exit hole on the offside of the animal.
This was a very old buck that needed to be removed from the gene pool.
