New Bows Coming?
Anyone heard what's coming for new xbows? I read a rumor on Excal forum they might be bringing out a new wheel bow. Our buddy Randy has a thread on 10 pt forum called "Faster, Lighter, or Quieter?" Looks like they have a new goody or two. Having met Randy, I'd be willing to bet that's a loaded question, they prolly have addressed all three of those issues at one time in one new "bestest yet". I'm betting some company is going to offer an adjustable length stock for the slighter stature market, and that those who ordered Strykers are still getting emails saying "coming soon" lol.

RE: New Bows Coming?
Dan,
You hurt my feelings. I would never ask a loaded question:DI am always dead serious when I make statements, never any sarcasm:eek: Nowhere in that thread did I say we had addressed any of those issues. I was simply asking which people thought was the most important to them. Have we addressed any of those issues? Well maybe some, but some we just have to wait for technology to catch up with our needs. I will say I really like the new"Bestest Yet"bow. They are shooting the photos today and Monday for the catalog. The Strykers are not supposed to ship until mid December. I got that from a good source. If you ask questions, i will answer as best I am allowed to right now. Randy |

Randy Lol, Randy, you know all my questions have been answered EXCELlantly.:D:D I'm betting that faster, lighter, and quieter comes in the same box, lol. A good salesman never asks a question he/she doesn't have the answer to already. ;) Being the natl sales mngr for 10 pt is far beyond "salesperson." Imho, 10 pt has a winner there, you do a good job! |
RE: New Bows Coming?
Actually we did not get all three in one bow, but we got 2 out of 3, so it is a good start. We go 2 out of 3 on 2 bows in different mixes if that makes sense in a cloudy sort of way:eek:
One is faster and quieter, one is lighter and quieter. Randy |
RE: New Bows Coming?
I was thinking about getting the new Middleton or 10 pt Pro Elite but, after seeing the new Stryker, would have no other.
It's a Stryker or nothing for me. Of course, I would love a Robin Allen custom but, the one I would want with the features I like, would probably cost twice as much as a Stryker. Sag. |

RE: New Bows Coming?
Faster isnt better sagittarius, Those things weigh a ton and there might be some problems they havent worked out yet. I'm not going to buy one for a long while, i'll have a phoenix and a ten point b4 i get one.

RE: New Bows Coming?
Heck i will die before i ever got enough money to think about buying sumpin like that. There be a few things i want to buy fer hunting but that ain't one of them!:D

RE: New Bows Coming?
Why would ExCal go back into making wheel bows when they claimed that the recurve was so much better,,

RE: New Bows Coming?
can't justify spending that much $ on a bow. don't understand what could make one bow $1000 better than the one i've got.
|
RE: New Bows Coming?
As you can see, I am new to the forum. I have been looking extensively at a new xbow. Excal appears to be the best bang for the buck. The paper specs are good and everyone I have talked too love their excal or say that they want to get one. The Stryker looks like great on paper but $1,600.00 seems to be a bit of overkill for an extra 50 - 60 fps.

RE: New Bows Coming?
shewe I onwn one of the Expansive crossbows the top of the line Tenpoint , and there is no way I can explain on here what has me convienced it is worth the price I paid for it, but it definately was.. I also own an Excalibur Exocet , the Exocet is a great crossbow but it just isnt the crossbow the ProElite is, to compare the two would be like comparing a Chevy Chevette to a Caddy, the chevette does everything it was intended to do and does it well , but it just dosent compare to the caddy.. you would just have handle,, look at the way its made and put togather,, and shoot one to understand..
Dan if TenPoint comes out with one in 07 that is improved enough over the ProElite I have to convience me to get one I will let you play with my ProElite.. but its gonna take more than just a little morespeed or even a lot more speed to get me to want one ,, speed is not everything, and the noise factor is not a big isshue with me either. we both know crossbows are noisy by nature earplugs are cheap. earplugs= quiet crossbow.. and a little lighter isnt going to convience me either, but combine these togather with a few more improvements and I might be swayed to get one, and even if I dont get a new one I might still send you my Caddy to play with for a bit.. :) |
RE: New Bows Coming?
ORIGINAL: awshucks
Dan how many arrows have you put thru that Paradox?? I herd that becauseof the no let off cams they were hard on strings I am sure you are going to be they guy that is gonna be able to varify or disprove that. also herd of a guy getting 350 plus fps using the lighter weight Excal arrows do you still have any of the original Excal arrows that come with the right stuff package to see if there is any truth to that?? and this is just my thoughts I think Excal made a mistake when it discontinued making the Paradox..but from what I have read it is definately one awsome compound crossbow.. |
RE: New Bows Coming?
Fuddy Duddy just think about it, no target will stop the arrows under 20 yds. Them if you use alum. it may bend them and make it a one arrow CB. One arrow one shot too costly, plus it weighs 11 lbs. you going to tote that and go up in a tree stand?[:o]
Henry: I don't shoot the Pdox alot because I can't shoulder it offhand very well, too heavy like most wheel bows are for me and my bad shoulder. I don't have any 360 gr left, converted them all to 431 gr via brass inserts. I get 317 fps outta it w/ those, but like you, speed doesn't much matter to me once you near 300 fps. I've got the Emax down to 328 or so, and the Phoenix at 290 or 280, can't remember now, lol. I haven't seen any signs of serving wear on the Pdox since I had it re-strung, and probably have near 100 on new string. Just re-strung the other two yesterday. The Emax is the leader in serving abuse, just the nature of the beast. I'm guessing your Ecet will be noticably harder on servings than your Phoenix was. I'd sure like to see a bench rest 3 shot group at 30 yds. outta your 10 pt. |

RE: New Bows Coming?
I have posted shot groups outta my Proelite before , I`m not at home so I dont have the sawhorse here that I use as a rest so just went out and did a four shot group for youns at 30 yards varified yardage with rangefinder..

RE: New Bows Coming?
I know a lot of you can do better offhand at 30 yards but I would say any deer out to 30 yards is gonna be on the ground. and that must be an old post from Dan asking to see a shot group outta my ProElite if I had My ExoCet here would do a 30 group outta it, will have to post that another day.

RE: New Bows Coming?
Good shooting Henry. Hey are they Luminocks?
|
RE: New Bows Coming?
Don no those are just the bright nocks TenPoint puts in them..
Jason I think the reason they penetrated so deep is because I have shot the heck out of that target you should see the other side.. Dan I have never shot either of the crossbows off sandbags just have a sawhorse that I have used for a rest , will have to get another sawhorse and a couple of bags to use as sandbage and give that a try.. that would help take out any shooter error.. and that shot group was offhand.. |
RE: New Bows Coming?
Group looks very good Henry, even using that wheeled CB!
|
RE: New Bows Coming?
Forgot to say nice shooting Henry!! Holy Moly!! Whassup w/ this:Dan I have never shot either of the crossbows off sandbags just have a sawhorse that I have used for a rest
How the heck do you know which ones best? lol.:D |
RE: New Bows Coming?
they are both great crossbows.. both are way more accurate than I will ever be, I dont have that need to know which is the best both of them shoot plenty good enough for any shooting I will ever do, now if I was tournament shooting I might want to know if one of them had an edge on the other.. but for the shooting I do they seam to be right on par with one another..
Dan you said you would be interested in seeing a good benched group w/ sand bags fore and aft.. thats why I refernced to the sandbags.. |
RE: New Bows Coming?
Bag em and Tag em, Henry!! I just love the feel of freshly sifting sand settled in a sack!

RE: New Bows Coming?
I showed our Rep Group last Thursday and they can't wait to hit the road with the bows. They all wanted to shoot the new stuff while we were giving the presentation. Couple more weeks and I should be able to post a picture.
Dan, you will be happy to know the bow you shot in BP will get a trigger upgrade this year.;)And it shoots nice. Randy |
RE: New Bows Coming?
Randy: know you ain't upgrading it for me, lol but good move I'm sure. That one bow I shot w/ red dot that hadn't got left on by J. Q. Public sure seemed to have an excessive pull. Remember I kept trying to push the safety off again? Of course it had sat since BP got it w/ cable tie around the trigger, prolly all the lube was gone, and of course my rotten luck factor, lol. I was very impressed w/ the quality of all the bows you showed me, just seemed like that one was like 5% less than REAL good.

RE: New Bows Coming?
I was talking to an "informed source" in the xbow industry yesterday, who[m] I prefer not to name, but it was not Randy, lol, and was told [A] no wheel bows from Excal [B] Horton and 10 pt are both working on bringing out a recurve!! The mere mention of a 10 pt recurve makes my checkbook quiver!! I don't believe it is happening this year, if indeed at all, but thought I'd share this info/rumor. How about it, Randy??:)
|
RE: New Bows Coming?
Dan,
I think we will be busy enough this year with the changes we have made. Who knows about the future. We always look at lots of options. We got 2 new wheels this year. That may keep us busy for a while:eek: |

RE: New Bows Coming?
Horton, Smorton, lol, tell us about 10 pt and recurves, you silver tongue devil!!:D:D
|
RE: New Bows Coming?
I thought I answered that.
We have nothing inthat dept this year. As for the future, who knows. I was not trying to be elusive on that question. Sorry if it came off that way. Randy |
RE: New Bows Coming?
Fair enough, you did answer the question, was just tweakin ya some, thanks for the info on Horton. Ya can't blame us recurvers from slobbering over the thought of a 10 pt recurve,if I could offhand a compound I'd have one of yours. Thanks!
|
RE: New Bows Coming?
Naw i have the best recurve CB made and if i want another i will buy another Excal. They just can't be beat. As fer Dorton Horton it can't build a good compound CB anymore. So why would they want to build a recurve loser!
