Barnett Wildcat C5

Anyone here shoot one? Is it considered a good x-bow?

There's a guy on Tenn Deer forum that has one and likes it. I'm not that familiar w/ that model, but I don't care for the Barnetts. I had a Quad 400 blow up on me, read some pro's and con's on them, and we have a few Bnett fans here that may be able to help you.

Some say they like, some say bad. I dont have one so I don't know. At the top of the page their is a search the forum tab, try it and you may have some luck if you don't get many hits with this post. Do a search on "BARNETT" and you should have some info.

RE: Barnett Wildcat C5

I experienced some seriousquality control issues with my Quad 400. The sear was installed backwards so thestring would not cock. Then the scope went bad. Barnett bolts are of different manufacturers and weights. You have to weigh each new box. The i bought a Revolution SX: The adjustments on the red dot scope are backwards.

After all this, the Quad 400 is accurate and powerful. I have killed several pigs and deer with it. I haven't worked with the Revolution XS that much. Am totally sick of Barnetts.

Wasted a lot of money on Barnett crossbows. Wish that I had bought one good Horton or Ten Point.

RE: Barnett Wildcat C5

I've shot a Barnett RC150. I like the specs on the Wildcat C5, but haven't shot one. The RC150 is quiet, compact, accurate, and relatively fast. My complaints have been with the string (lasts less than 100 shots no matter how good you take care of it) and with the bolts. I got a bow shop to cut Horton bolts to a shorter length with the RC150, and it has worked just fine. The Wildcat C5 is supposed to have a good, light trigger- the RC150 does as well. One advantage of the C5 is that since it shoots 20" bolts, you can use regular Horton bolts with it. If you are going to get one, I would suggest scrapping the Barnett bolts (I've never heard of anyone being happy with them) and buying some Horton 20" Carbon Strike bolts instead.

From my experience, Barnetts are fast, accurate andquiet, butare not built as tough as some other brands. I would consider the Wildcat C5 only if you are going to treat it gently and are not planning on shooting it 100's of times each season.
