Thanks, Bill |

RE: Stryker Crossbow info
Whats all the fuss about?? Do we know anything at all about this thing? Whomakes it ? Just cause they have a countdown clock does not mean I am gonna be the first in line. Seems like alot of hype. The model looks more like aNavy Seal than a hunter and whats he gonna do shoot it from the hip? It is mean looking but so what. I would think that they would provide us with more than a cool picture and a clock. I am so excited I can hardly sleep. Don .. I would love a copy of the mail you recieved from them. Maybe there is something to it but I am gonna save my dime until a fewgrunts try it and give it a major thumbs up..

RE: Stryker Crossbow info
I think November is a poor time to bring this thing out. They should have brought it out in September so folks could have it BEFORE hunting season.

RE: Stryker Crossbow info
Here's 2 cents worth from the cheap seats. Much ado about nothing. That thing is way over-powered, which I'm sure will appeal to the speed freaks. I can say that because I was one for a short while, before I got a computer. He11, they should be like varmit rifles, right?? Faster just has to be better!! Once I got an electronic education, lol, I went from an Emax to a Phoenix. Then, I shot a Vixen, realized that they will all do the job, no amount of initial speed will over come physics. IOW: you still gotta range and allow for the drop of your arrow. If a lowly Vixen will shoot clean thru a deer,[pass through] where's the advantage in a much faster bow?? It's like Bill T. [co-owner of Excal] said about the "Swiss Bow""It's not whether or not it will shoot well, it's how long will it shoot well" And, this whole thing applies to your beloved Hortons, Parkers, Barnetts, and 10 pts. Make no mistake, I personally trhink Excal makes the best xbows on the market, got three, but I also deeply RESPECT ya'll's choice in xbows. I don't want one of these Strykers. |
RE: Stryker Crossbow info
Sheesh...the darm thing hasn't even been released and you're slamming it. Could I at least review , inspect and/or try one out before I make an objective decision if I like it or not or, is that now allowed in "Excal-world".
|
RE: Stryker Crossbow info
BillinMich: You can try anything you choose, and it's not an Excal world. I'm basing my opinion on the advertised speeds and k.e. Looks like one shot to an arrow as I see it, gonna be a tad hard to find targets to stop the arrows, ect. That much power is gonna be hard on the bow, imho. Good luck w/ yours if that's your choice.

RE: Stryker Crossbow info
Yep you right htoler you did missread it because if you look back you wrote a post that had nothing to do with the question just like dan did right? I guess all you guys should go back and deleat all you post except for don because he is the only one that offered info on the bow and every one should not have posted or if they did just give a simple yes or no right? But because dan stated his opinion on speed and then made mention he likes excal but RESPECTS EVERYONES BOW OF CHOICE he screwed up! Shame on you dan get in the barrell! How dare you make a post about speed when the main selling point about the bow in question is speed! Into the barrell you go bad boy!!! And for you htoler you get two trips in because you made one post that was your 2 cents worth and then you made another post that had abosolutly nothing to do with the original post, you missread twice!!! Line up after dan there big boy!!!! You may have drove him off twice as much!!!![&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o]

RE: Stryker Crossbow info
Here's the basis for my inquiry...I currently shoot a 12-year old Horton Super Sport. It's 150 pounds, shoots about 240-250 fps. The thing a love about it is that it has a solidwood stock, very small and extremely lightweight @ 5.5 pounds. It almost like a carbine crossbow which serves me very well inasmuch as I am severely afflictedwith rheumatoid arthrits in my hands, shoulders and other places. So, small andparticularly lightweight is more important to me than any other feature.
That said, I know the limitations of this crossbow and I will never take a shot beyond 20 yards--TOPS! Regrettably, many of the deer hereabouts like to stay outside that range for some strange reason. The thing that intreagues me about this bow (Stryker) is that it could perhaps have some of the attributes that I love in mylittle horton bow, but with the speed to reach out accurately to say 35-40 yards. The easy answer would be to say, "Well, just get an excalibur". While very fast and a fine product, frankly, I find them way too long, wide and lunky. I likewisesome find the new Hortons to be fairly compact, but way too heavy. So, if something comes down the pike that can give me what I need (light, comapact and with speed) I am definately interested. Until that time, I'll just continue to use my 12 year old Horton Super Sport. Incidentally--kudos to the Horton Crossbow people..Last spring, I gave my bow to a fellow to have him refinish the wood stock as it has got pretty scratched and banged up over the years (it really was/is a beautiful bow out of the box). This fellow dissembled the entire thing and then had some personal problems and could not finish the project. I got the bow back but it was in a zillion parts and I had no idea what went where, if things were missing, etc. I packaged the entire thing up and shipped it to Horton in Ohio where they re-assembled it for me (don't know if they had to add missing parts) and sent it back to me in 5 days--all free of charge including return shipping!! Thanks Horton. |
RE: Stryker Crossbow info
Bill, generally the service from most crossbow makers is head and shoulders above most other makers of cars, clothes, compounds etc. Its truly rare to hear of bad service from them. I think I've only heard of one and that was on this forum. We should expect good service, after all aren't all of us crossbowers special? :D

Htoler: Did you read any new info on the Stryker?? No one has that I'm aware of. This is a place open to the whole world to share data, facts, tips, and opinions. I posted my opinion as 2 cents worth. It's just my opinion, because everytime I launch a b-head where I live, that's a $10 bill gone. I'm not familiar w/ MichBill, but would seriously doubt my opinions would run him or anyone else off. It's called "scroll down". We also have a feature called "pm's", for the truly offended, as you know and apologies are not hard to get from me, as key boards don't always do as meant. Have a good one!!

RE: Stryker Crossbow info
I don't buy anything based on fancy advertisments. I just questioned what all the fuss was about. Feel free to drop a pile of benjamins on one and let us know how it works. Not saying I would not buy one but it would have to be an improvement over what I already have and I am not gonna be first in line. I get the impression that everyone has had a really sucky day. I do recognise the model hunter now.. It's that Van Helsing guy.
