Fletching crossbow arrows
Help! Does anybody know of a way to use a Bitzenburger fletching jig to refletch crossbow arrows? Since crossbow arrows do not use a "arrow nock", how do you turn the shaft after a vane is glued on so that the next vane will be aligned right? If the Bitzenburger jig can't be used correctly, any suggestions on which jig to use to refletch crossbow arrows? What about the Arizona E-Z fletch?

RE: Fletching crossbow arrows
I use the Arizona EZ fletch for crossbow bolts. It works great. No need to have a nock for a 3-at-a-time fletcher. Hope this helps. Grndhntr.

This is assuming you have an insert with threads like the Excals. Take a field point and glue a traditional nock onto the point then screw the field point into the shaft and the string end of the nock into the fletcher. I don't know if others make it but Bohning makes an piece that replaces the piece that indexes the nock with one with an o ring that grips the xbow shaft. Check out this thread. http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12739&highlight=fletcher+fletc hing

RE: Fletching crossbow arrows
The solution I came up with for using my bitzenburger jigs was to get some pencil slipover style erasers and cut a notch on the end and use it like a nock. The eraser fits tight on the arrow and the best thing is it is very cheap.

Thats a good tip about using pencil eraser as index nok receiver. :)
