I'm not scared, please don't hit me no more! Its been better than 20 years since i had a Longbow, got rid of it about 5 years after i got my 1st compound. Then last spring i had to sell my recurve, not hard up fer cash. I just couldn't hold it on the full draw anymore, lost 70% use of left arm. Now its sad but true i hurt so bad after shooting 6 arrows i am getting rid of the old compound. Yup we know i have my ace in the hole, my Phoenix and dearly love it and i can still shoot it. So you see i have came thru the ranks but never had fits about what others own and shoot. You see its their choice, we have that freedom. Don't take an attitude about Crossbows not being archery equipment,my opinion is they are and your opinion maybe different. Thats fine no problem, i sould have the same right to hunt deer during archery season as any other Bowhunter!:)

Also, Its people like smokepolehall,BOB7255KHZ, and Rebelhog and others that I may have left out that show its not all that like to bash the CB who have formally used a long bow. I just believe its all culture and knowledge that effect people the most when they make the responses they do.

Myself, I would rather hunt bottom line. That is the dominating factor out of all this. Second, I would like to choose my weapon.
Yes I cannot agree more. but lobbying against the crossbow is not allowing a choice of weapons is it? Ok would you be a happy young man if you were given a week before everyone as long as you used a stick bow? (acutally I would be 100% happy with that) And a week before stick bow users the spear hunters go out? COME ON, LETS MAKE A DEAL!!!
No, we wasn't lobbying against crossbows period just not to use them in the early bow season. At least thats what I was for. You can use em in MD Oct. 1-15 and Jan 1-15.Oct 1-15 was a rough comprimise I believe.

Actually, been on a hog hunt where knifes were used. Don't want to do that again myself. thought it would be great but not for me. got it on video.

I just want to see seasons spaced out enough so everybody can get thier fill. I have a gripe with DNR's early opening of bow season anyway. Even I feel like I have to get out there on a 90F day on Sept. 15th. Andlast year, here comes a big boy, and had to rush himhome as fast as I can to get ice on him.

If they opened a week of crossbow week before gun, I would be content on that. Fortunately, state parks have stood firm on bows only.

Now the idea of a stick season I really like, but its one thing to add weapons to seasons, and a entirely different to take away days from regular hunters.Once things are added its hard to get out, but not near as hard to keep out in the first place.

I just don't like the idea of going to far based on "data". Any engineer can tell you how they have used data inappropiately. Especially when you get newbies like the one from La. on here who recycle data from other sources. Urban spawl is the issue, and they wield that data like a 8 year old who just found his daddies gun. Anybody who has an IQ over 50 can see that.

Like the poison packs they use down south or video hunting. I mean where does it come to the point of just not being sporting?

Well, listen, you guys enjoy your day. I am not a crossbower and not sure but sounds like I have been warned by Christine, and if the Great Lord in Heaven allows me to be able to pull back a 50lb bow until I am 100, I will be using one. And if he doesn't, I will go to acrossbow. Take care.

I'll use the word ignorance again, and you will be surprized at what others I can bring out of this vocabulary. Ted Nugent has probabley won more awards for conservation than any other human. You may read his bio like everyone else at www.tednugent.com,(Being a bean counter you will love it)he is on the Sr Board of directors of the National Rifle Assn...Several Golden Moose Awards, Awarded as a top outdoor writer, Spokes person for Mothers agaist Drunk Driving. Ted is about as patriotic as you can get, so tell your humble buddies about the thousands of Marines he and Toby entertained. And just for the heck of it tell them about the 6 figures he laid on the Katriana victims in Louisiana...I gave him an award myself for that one.He has a wonderful clean cut family, his wife now sponsoring Freedom Angles to help wounded soldiers. VH1 is not the Outdoor Channel, Ted is a Rock and Roll Star "He puts on an act." Sure it clashes with a few stoic anal retentives, Ive had my arguments with some of his stuff, but its an act...The Ted Nugent that deals with the outdoors is the real one, Not the "Nuge." His archery mentor was none other that Fred Bear. Frankly everyone I know pretty well likes him...all main stream good ole boys and girls hunter types...soldiers realy like him and if you havent heard he is running for Governor of Michigan. Considering that I really dont have a problem bringing people into the fold, even though, like the "Nuge" I'm very outspoken. Yea I recon both me and the "Nuge" are crazy, .....Like the Fox.

You should have seen what I came up with for Surviving the Nuge.:D
Well, good, you follow that fool. I ain't alone in how I feel. I used to like the guy. Even checked in his hunts. Planned on doing a bow hunt with him. Forget it, he does more harm than good. And any foolish organizaiton that would align themselves with him will regret it in the end.

Man, I hope you don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Did some checking on you with friends down south. They explained kinda what I figured. Well, you write pretty anyway.
Well lets see you did some checking on me, well good I'm not one to hide, I'm easy to find. You may find me sometimes at the Ft Polk Shooting Complex where I founded the Top Gun Leauge of Sharpshooter, The yearly top gun challenge rifle match, you can check with the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Assn. or Bayou Outdoor Magazine. If your an archery guy, you might like to know that it was me that established the National Field Archery Association, ASA and American Crossbow Assn at the largest Shooting Range in the State, Ft Polk....Reps from the the highly respected Bayou State Bowmen's Assn. said there would be a year delay...and of course...crossbows were strickly Taboo.I made three phone calls and made it happen. Of course you dont do something like that by yourself (Check with Army MWR for details)Something tells me you talked to BSBA "The voice of Bowhunting in Louisiana." They would be the one outfit that would and is agaist crossbows nation wide. (connected to Pope and Young)Funny I never considered them an enemy and continue to promote their activities in my articles.

Of course in my opinion the most detrimental enemy of hunters are themselves with the infighting and canabalizim amoung outdoor groups.(your coments are a fine example of the negative)Ted Nugent certianly promotes all ethical types of hunting and so do I, based on the words of the father of bowhunting Fred Bear, "If your not working to promote hunting, you are working agaist it."

Real simple, crossbows are not going away, Pope and Young and their undercover representitives need to lay off the crossbow as all this causes is what you see here...infighting. Legalizing it stops the arguments. Crossbow do promote new hunters as well as older hunters trying something new...we already know that by contacting states that have the crossbow. Unfortunately many are "ignorant" of these facts so we have to tell them. Closely aligning themselves with their counterparts the anti-hunters, the canibals take every opertunity the bash us.

Now I'll will infact pat myself on the back:)

College debaiting groups don't look and sound this good. This is the kind of discussion where if you are away from the puter for a day you're behind the eight ball badly doing catch up. Don't you just love it when a discussion comes together!

Boy! I'm sorry I started this thread. I thought the crossbow crowd would be a little more level headed than this. What a shame.

We are level headed, and when you feel the passion we do about shooting our crossbows, you'll know just what we mean.
