Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I've been shooting that Browning which is mostly a Tenpoint a lot. It has the Acudraw. I am much more accurate and consistent than any of the Excals I've got. The only difference is the Acudraw vs the rope cocker. Can it really help the L/R shooting that much? High low seem to be better too.
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
There shouldn't be any difference, as long as you have the hooks tight to the rail on rope cocker. What arrows are you shooting out of the Excals?
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
BB,
Yes, it does make big a difference. A rope cocker is better then by hand, but the Acudraw is better then a rope cocker. The Acudraw pulls the string back evenly and is centered on the barrel so it is the same every time. You don't see much difference at 30 yards, but 40-60 you really see it. Randy |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
BB: There ya go! I'm glad Randy is around cause he'd know. I would sure like to shoot w/ you guys somewhere someday and see some of these things we talk about. I'm about half tempted to order one of those 10 pts just to see what the hey they're all about.
Randy: Can you post a pict or two how the Acudraw works? Does the "rope" on it loop around the back of the receiver like a rope cocker? I'm sure you are correct in what you're saying, but I can't visualize how that is so. I hate having my bubbles burst, LOL Dnk and I have talked at length about some kind of meet for folks on this forum. Htoler is in Illinois, my home state, and I may catch up w/ him on a future trip there. Just something for ya'll to think about. |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I hope this works, I don't do well with computers. The cord runs on 2 wheels, one on either side of the bow. The cord comes off one wheel, GOES THRU the claw and over to the other wheel. The claw is a horseshoe. On each side there is a cam that helps guide the claw down the center of the barrel. The botom of the horseshoe has a post that guides down the middle of the barrel. The claw can go nowhere but straight forward or backwards. If by chance one wheel wants to pull in more cord the the other, which is unlikely because they both run off one axle, the cord can center itself because it slips around, or through the claw. I hope this makes sense. I hope the picture works too. Here goes!

Here is a picture of the bow being cocked by the Acudraw.

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
There is a great picture of the underside of the claw on the PDF of the owners manual, but i can't get it to pull over off the PDF. Feel free to check it out and ask questions if I was not clear.

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
You mean this one?
The Acudraw is about the slickest crossbow gizmo out there. I'm thinking about putting one on my Buckmaster Maxpoint. If you had a template for the Acudraw would it be that hard to put in a stock? I would guess cutting the hole is the hard part. ![]() |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
[&o]Yeah, that's the picture. I HATE not being able to do that stuff with my puters!!!!! Drives me nuts. You guys do this stuff and it looks great and I try 10 times and it won't work[:@][:@][:@][:@]
Anyway, you can see the cams on the outside as well as the post that guides down the center of the barrel. Thanks for the pic BB. Randy |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I can see how that would be real consistent now. Randy: Whats the little gizmo under the horseshoe in your first pict? It appears to be on the back of receiver in cocking picture. Do any 10 pt models have groove in stock for rope cockers?
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
That is the claw holder. That is where it sits when not in use. You are correct, it sits behind the triggerbox.
None of the bows are grooved for a rope cocker. Be careful if you use a rope cocker on the back of the trigger box. They are right angles and can cut the cord. Randy |

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
My Mom always said I should spend more time reading!
Darn, she was right again! |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Thats very cool Randy, nice product.:)

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I hAVEthe accudraw on my TenPoint ProElite and I must say it is the sharpest and easiest to use cocking aid I have seen, and your crank handle comes in its own neat carring pouch which is able to be carried on your belt, and with the accudraw being permantely mounted to the bow you do not have to worry with carring any extra stuff in your pockets or whatever you carry your equipment in..
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
But the most important thing about my accudraw on my Elite QX4 is:
This old man of 61 yrs. wouldn't get to hunt with ANY bow, Cross, Compound, or sling shot, cause this tendanitous in my shoulder keeps me from the simplest strength requiring duties. The Accudraw makes my TenPoint Xbow twice as valuable to me. I wouldn't leave home without my handle to it for nothing! LOL. |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Barnett has something simular. I found it to be very noisy and not very fast to utilize. What are the advantages with acudraw?
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
3 words Moxie
Quality Function Patents Randy |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Moxie go to a proshop that carries the different xbows and the different cocking aids,, and try them out and I think you will find out why people have the accudraw mounted on many other brands of crossbows,,
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
moxie1884, I have both, the main differance is that in order to get accuracy out of the barrnet you have to guide the cord on to the spool as you crank it up,guiding the cord on both spools at the same time as you crank takes a bit of practice. Lee

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Thanks guys, I'll go and take a look at it at a shop I know.

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
A WORD OF WARNING!!! SOME STATES THATLET NON-HANDICAPPED HUNTERS TO USE A CROSSBOW, DO NOT ALLOW THE "USE OF LEVERAGE GAINING DEVICES" UNLESS YOU ARE HANDICAPPED. EXAMPLE - WYOMING - CHECK YOUR STATE HUNTING LAWS CAREFULLY!!!
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Wyoming is the only State thatI am aware of like that. They also have handicap laws for those that need it.
Randy |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Does this include rope cockers? What kind of balderdash is this? So you have to be strong enough to hunt with an xbow or handicapped????
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
DNK,
Yes. Randy |
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I'm not sure what the hey Wyomings intent is w/ that bit of "balderdash" [thanks dnk] but I can flat a$$ guarantee you my rope cocker would be in MY pocket! That's all part of being an American, obey the laws you believe in and ignore the rest. This one needs ignored.
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I guess they're using the new and improved IBO sanctioned game laws. Can you use a rangefinder or let down and draw again on a deer? LOL Some of these game laws are absurd. We used to have one here that read "illegal to hunt quail in the snow"? Say what? Do they freeze or something? LOL Geeze.... make a friggin' limit and how you get them is up to you. I mean 3 deer is 3 deer right? Too much time and effort on the fine points of how to take game.
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
you can bet that the powers that be that do not agree with the use of crossbows had a lot to do with that rule, think about it for a minute if you have a rule like that that the only ones that can use a cocking aid are the ones that have a medical reason and any others wishing to use a crossbow have to be able to cock it by hand then you have the use of crossbows limited, because a lot of people just cannot cock them by hand and it is not always because of lacking the strength to do so, take me for example I think I have enough strength I just dont have the stature to do it because of being short,, Im 5`2 ,, 5`3 depending on whos doing the measuring, and when I step on my drop tine to try to cock my bow by hand I am able to pull it back but cannot pull the string up far enough to cock it even standing up straight. at least crossbow are starting to be allowed , its a start ,, in time thay will be legal for any to use in all atates.. it is a step up form a lot of the states having the handicapped rule.. think of the positives...

RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Yep they dislike us so much they come up with really creative ways to still wee in your corn flakes.
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
I am guessing here, but I'm thinking maybe it was meant to limit the lb. pull. Maybe they thought you could build some 700 lb monster mounted in a jeep able to shoot arrows over tall bldgs. ect. From what I saw of Wyoming, it's pretty open country. If that was their intent, they should have just put a limit on the pound pull, like whatever state[s] it is that it's gotta be 200lbs or less. Which is more "balderdash" in my book. However, that is one rule I would follow, only not to give xbowers a bad rap if checked.
|
RE: Does the Acudraw really make this much difference?
Hmmm..... no poundage limit here. I wonder.........
Could this be what our compound friends fear? LOL They're going at it again over on a forum on another site. But if I post the link they'll post it over there that I'm recruiting allies or whatever. They scan all the xbow sites and cut-n-paste replies we make here over there on anti rants. Geesh..... they have no life. ![]() |
