Excal Cocking
1.Do any Excal shooters use the Crankaroo, and if so what is the ratio or ease of usein your opinion?
2.Also does anyone use the Dissipator Bars? 3.What type of sights do you use? 4. Ecal recommends Wasp Boss broadheads, do you use these? 5. Ecalrecommends#2219 arrows, do you use these? |
RE: Excal Cocking
I use the rope cocker.
The dissipator bars are on all the Excals. I've got scopes on them. I'm shooting Rocket Steelheads on mine in ground blinds through the mesh and NAP Spitfires from tree stands or in the open. I'm using carbon arrows. |
RE: Excal Cocking
Good moring. I use a rope cocker and have a crankeroo. The later is bulky, slow and but is the easiest to cock, easier to align the string.
I have disiapator bars (and a dacron flemish string to reduce noise) I use thunder heads and wasp expandables. There are many that work well I use the old 2117 and just got some 2216s...apparently is a wide variety of shafts available to you as an Excal user. |

RE: Excel Cocking
Well, I have an old Excalibur at 165 I think, might be a 175, donno. But yes I do. Apparently you need to when your speeds are 300 or higher, mine is slower but I do it because of Murphy's Law. If everything is normal it will not open but then again getting an opportunity at a gagger isn't so why take a chance?

RE: Excel Cocking
I think the dissapator bars come on everything but the Vixen and point blanc. On the other hand I went for ten years without any and didn't miss them until I saw them.

RE: Excel Cocking
Its a wonderfull day when someone buys an xbow! Rebel did you buy an Excal or are you still thinking about it?
If you see an excal with no string you can guarrantee that the bars will not be on it. The pads will get ruined/squashed so when storing you remove them or don't install them on a display model. The DBs make a big difference. |
RE: Excel Cocking
Guys the reason I'm asking so many questions on cocking is because I have two small Aneurysms. One is 2cm on the stomach aorta and one is on the artery 3-1/2cmgoing to the right kidney. Vascular doctors will not do surgery until they reach 7cm's. I have to be very carefulwhen straining.
I know, most will say to go to a compound:D,but I have done a lot of research and handling in the last month and Iam liking the recurves more. On the Excals, one single string, no wheels to worry about, I like the quiver arrangement better and the manuel safety also. I havecalled Excal a bunch of times confirming what the salesmen have toldme and confirmed right. They have been very helpful. On the other X-Bows, I can't get the same answer from any salesmen and half don't know the answers to my questions, Sooooo, I think I know which way I'm going!:) |
RE: Excel Cocking
Hey Reb, there are a few xbows that have crank units, some even built in. The Excal requires no effort at all and lines up the string perfectly. Some xbows can be cranked with an electric screw driver....... I can just imagine myself this summer with a beer, lawn chair, target and my wife fetching the bolts out of the taget butt...lol................ NOT!!!
I am sure that horton and tenpoint have their versions of crank units that work well. |

RE: Excel Cocking
Ditto Dnk, what would the fluted shaft be for?
|
RE: Excel Cocking
ORIGINAL: Hotburn76 Ditto Dnk, what would the fluted shaft be for? X-Caliber Fluted ArrowsSee increased accuracy with these fluted arrows. These shafts maintain spine stiffness, but decrease wall thickness by a minimum of 33.3% to generate greater velocity. You increase your accuracy because of the faster velocity, stability and the elimination of oscillations. The physical structure of the aluminum when it is drawn makes the shaft harder to bend and gives it incredible memory. Fewer sizes in fluted arrows will cover a wider range of peak draw weights. Snap on nocks, screw-in inserts. Choose from three 5" turkey feathers in helical fletch, or 5" plastic vanes. Comes in Brown Camo color. Available with plastic vanes or feather fletched vanes. X-Caliber inserts also are available. |

RE: Excel Cocking
Hi, I'm back from 3 day hog hunt, don't ask!!LOL. Missed a bobcat at 30 yds. You guys/gal [hi cat] would be doing yourself a favor IMHO, to try Slick Tricks. The one I pulled out of the mud w/ cat hair on it, but no blood, thanks Lord, didn't even need sharpening. I've got a rooster here that's got to go, am waiting on my zwickeys to get here to test them out. Regards to all.

RE: Excel Cocking
Using a crankaroo is like using a spinning reel and just a few lbs.of pressure. Put up with bulk, its not that bad. Dissapater bars and rubber pads out in front of limbs with its strung to use shooting take off before unstringing. I use 2219 20" long with the 1" dia. muzzy 4 blade Bad to the Bone broadheads.[:o]

RE: Excel Cocking
Well I bet if you contact TenPoint they will anser any question you have about their bows.. they have never failed to anser any question I have had..
if you have decided to go with an Excalibur and want to get a good cocking aid for it then get a TenPoint Accudraw and have it mounted to your Excal. theres a thread on having them mounted on Excals on the Excalibur forum going on right now.. |
