RE: What is your fav deer?

Yup shot my 5X5 near Buford C0 during rilfe season too. Some pretty crazy land to walk. The guide had some flatlanders from Tenn hunting with us. We found them sleeping in the woods a few times. One of the guides moved their guns while they were sleeping just as a joke. When they heard it was going to snow they took off for home like scared rabbits. Apparently the boys weren't accustomed to walking. Guess they were real city boys! I didn't break any bones but felt a bit beat up from the up and down walking all day. I'm betting the ribs would have hurt a whole lot more if you didn't shoot those animals!:)

We were hunting on the cheap. Our guides dropped us off and pointed us in a direction and wished us good luck. We paid $500.00 each. Never saw one deer.

I didn't pick a poll as my choice wasn't listed. I will tell you what i would like to go hunt. A Blacktail Buck thats been around for 3.5 years or more and has those heavy massed thick based antlers. 4 points on each side and eye brow tines too! Thats a hunt i want, and i know just the area to go, got to hunt there as a boy. Took the 1st legal Bucks that came by and haven't had a chance to ever go back!:(

Already have my Sitka Buck, so right now, the Axis buck is the animal of my dreams. Would still like to collect one of each color phase of the Fallow buck too, but the Axis would be my first choice. Had a real dandy in front of me in Texas two weeks ago, but the ranch does not allow bucks to be taken in velvet. This randy old timer was still in velvet so I passed on him. Rules are rules. He was a handsome devil, though and he was within 15 yards and didn't even know I was there. I could have dropped him in a heartbeat with my little ol' crossbow.

One of the other hunters shot an Axis buck in velvet and it cost him an extra $1200. To big of a fine for my blood. Once I get my Axis buck, I plan on going aftera Jackalope buck. Awfully handsome animal, that Jackalope.

Here's a picture of my 33 point Nontypical Whitetail, I shot it my first year hunting when I was 14, back in 1989. Haven't gotten anything quite this big since.

Wow, nice animal. I really can't see it well but it looks like it has nice mass. Big bases is what turns me on on a deer. What is the measurement around the bases?
Its crazy that you are harvesting in reverse. Big big then smaller later. I guess you are really hooked aren't you now?
Where was it taken and how long before you could speak english again? LOL
