RE: how many people
I joined before CB forum. But I know what you mean about posting CB stuff in the regular bow threads. That can be a lonely cold post.

I joined waaaaay before the x-bow forum started.

RE: how many people
I've been using huntingNet.com for a while but never the forums. When the Crossbow forum on ArcheryTalk got to be too much B.S. and I heard that HuntingNet had a new crossbow forum I switched. I hear ArcheryTalk has been cleaned up now but this forum is still my first choice.

RE: how many people
Been here for awhile but am excited about this new forum. I LOVE my TenPoint. TN just legalized them this fall and I REALLY enjoyed hunting with it. I LOVE bowhunting but in all honesty after 20 years I was gettin burned out on compounds (did the recurve thing about 15 years ago for two seasons but just don't have the time to practice enough for them). I actually enjoy shooting my crossbow. Now I am looking forward to other states I hunt possibly allowing them.
Welcome too newbies, RA |

RE: how many people
I would have answered, and don't own one, but think I would hunt with one if it was legal in NY. I know it is in Ohio, my home state, just wondering what other states allow its use besides disabilities?[8D]

RE: how many people
I joined long before this forum came online , but I'm delighted to see it .
JLmoore1956 , Indiana has allowed them for several years now for deer , they've been legal for all other game even longer . Don't hold your breath waiting for NY to liberalize them , their bow hunters lobby is very anal and too strong right now . Check the Northeast forum sometime , there's a thread on crossbows there . |
RE: how many people
Yes kevin1 doubt that NYs anal retentiveness will ever go away where the lobbyist are concerned....... and I visited the site in NE section. Hey it helps pass time here :D
If they were legal I would use them for sure, not first choice but think someone mentioned when it is extremely cold would be nice...... and nothing wrong with a specail week or even added to gun season, not sure that gun hunters would mind them, but I might be wrong, bow or gun season or their own, they are hunters and deserve to be out there with chosen weapon! RE: how many people
I think most of those guys in the bow hunting forum look down on us guys using a crossbow ... I think they feel that it takes less skill ...of course I bow hunted for almost 30 years before my eye sight started getting to where I could not see my pins well ..so now its me and my Parker MAgum !

RE: how many people
Doctor Death, wont catch me looking down, and besides I am approaching the half century mark and everything doesn't work like it use to. So if I ever have to or have the oppurtunity I will use a crossbow, and be happy to still call myself a hunter! There is a lot of skill involved with the crossbow and much practice is needed like a bow or rifle. I would almost say, given some other threads on the bow, that things are easier with compounds then ever before that it might almost be easier for those then for a crossbow...... IMHO!
