Just wanting a cheap tent
 

Hey guys have any of you got or used either of these tents. Just wanting a cheap tent. I know you pay for what you get but would like some feedback on these two models. Cheers TH

It doesn't pay to buy cheap tents such as those unless you're pitching them in the backyarrd for the kids.
If you have bad weather such as wind and rain you're going to be wet even it the tent stays up. these are two better choices et al

you might checkout cabelas,they have quite a variety of tents and acceptable prices

I'm for cheap; but there is too cheap
 

And I know from experience, being on a campgrounds after a cloud burst around two or three in the morning. The hollering was unbelievable. I remember getting woke up and a fella had some six inches of water in his tent. I was dry, I told him, when he woke me up.
If you go cheap, make sure you spray some silicone spray on the tent, to make it waterproof. There is a probability, that they went light on the waterproofing with the cheap tents. Many a career was ended in tenting, I believe, when the rains came at 3 A.M.

The best price on a good tent is at Target. I have had 10x10's and 10x 12's that have outlasted a lot of my friends $$$ tents. Keep it clean, and don't put it up wet is the key!!!

i have a tent similar to the first camo tent,
have been using it for +20 yrs
its small, light, and has worked great for +20 yrs
\think my first experience with it,
was a teenager on 7 day camping trip,
friends had huge tents, mine next to it looked like the dog house,
but i was comfy and it worked great,
have used it numerous times since, too many to count, and still like it,


really depends on your needs/usage,
long hikes, size/weight will be an issue,


i also have a tent similar to second, typical dome tent,
I only used it once, where i hiked 1 mile to the site,
so limited experience with it,
didnt care for setting up with long external frame poles, found it quite annoying,

i am not camping on mt everest, so really dont need +$300 tents and such,
$40-$100 tents work for me

how to use a spray can of silicone to prevent water leaks.

Many a newbie camper has ended that experience in a 2 A.M. rainy downpour. Or....."hey bud, how many inches of rain in your tent."

If this is just for some basic car camping or for setting up in the backyard for the kids then these will do. BUT
I also agree. If this is for serious camping use, don't go cheap. It'll ruin your trip when you and all of your gear is soaking wet. A few things to never go cheap on is your tent, your boots and socks, and your backpack or frame pack. Those things can make or break a backpacking trip. Good luck!
