Meat Grinder
 

I'm looking to buy an electric meat grinder and hopefully not spend too much money on one. Question I have is I see so many that look to be about the same but one will be $49.99 and the next will be $129.99. What makes the difference even though the grinding speeds are the same? Will I regret buying a cheap grinder if I'm only using it for a couple of deer each year or would a cheaper model be OK?

Usually the difference is in the motor. The more expensive ones have bigger motors. I prefer the hank crank grinders. Never had one fail yet.;)

if you get one , get the best you can afford.if you buy a cheap one,then thats what you gonna get.(Cheap)
The motor is the big difference.I have one with a 3/4 HP. motor and it does fine.I grind 8 or 10 deer and as many hogs a year.I paid $350.00 for mine from Bass Pro and have not regretted it yet.
I started off with one of those $100.00 ones.it is in the closet gathering dust.they just don't do the job.

I have the Kitchen Aide mixer with the grinder attachment and it dose a great job. I do 4 or 5 deer a year no problem.. A friend brought over a 1/2 horse BPro around a $200 model and they were about equiviliant.

I bought a $100 model and I agree it won't do the job.
A good friend gave me his hand crank grinder and it works great. Good for the arms too.

A #22 hand grinder does the job fairly quickly. The grind of an elk takes about 30 minutes to do. For occaisional use it's all I need. A good electric will cost you.

I agree with tree climber buy as much as you can and you'll never regret it (the motor is the real key). In the interm a decent hand balmer is better money spent vs a cheap electric IMO.

We bought one from a supermaket, they upgraded. That grinder is awesome, but the saw on it doesn't work. But still one heck of a deal.

That probably didn't help you out much tho, sorry.
