Venison nutritional?
I killed 3 deer this season so it looks like I'm gonna be eating alot of venison. My question is: is venison fattening? I know deer are pretty lean from what I saw when we cut them up. I know hot sticks are and salami are high in protein but are they filled with fat too? Thanks for the help!

RE: Venison nutritional?
venison alone is not fatning ; it depends on what you add and how you cook it.
if you add a lot of fat to your burger then, it has fattning qualities.fry it in hog lard and yes it is somewhat fattning. so it all depends.venison it slef if grilled it is not fattning. |
RE: Venison nutritional?
venison is low in fat high in protein any other animal fat added will change the protein to fat ratio....

RE: Venison nutritional?
We used a 3:1 mix with deer to pork. And we smoked the hot sticks and salami.

RE: Venison nutritional?
Ever heard of a low-carb diet? Protien is the key, venison along with all other "meats" are loaded with protiens and no carbs. As mentioned by Tree Climber, it depends on what you add to the meat. The meat alone will not make you gain weight.

a study has shown-I can't find it anymore but it was in the American Hunter magazine 2-3 years ago- that whitetail/mule deer venison are only outstripped health wise by pronghorn, elk, and moose.
Venison has so little fat that you should not even think about it. |
