I got a 3/4hp. gringer from Bass-Pro just a few weeks ago(just before bow season).
I have ground the burger from 7 bucks so far and it works great.it has two plates, coarse, and fine, along with a stuffer spacer.4 stuffer tubes.all staineless.

I paid $350.00 for it and have already saved that much by doing my own meat.

by doing your own,you know whats in it also.[:-]

I got the 99.00 dollar one from Cabelas. Works great grinds 2-3 lbs a minute. Come with sausage stuffer and TWO grinding plates. Love it. I got the little patty maker with the papers to put between them as well. We just got done doing our 2nd deer.

I use the good old fashion hand cranked grinder like grandma used. I dug one up at a tool sell two years ago. I love it.

For doing small amount of grinding, under 12 lbs at a time, the $99 model sold by Cabela' s is fine. I think that is the same one they use to have made by Maverick. If you pan on doing alot of grinding the larger model like the one Tree climber bought would be better and last alot longer.

My brother & I picked one up from Northern Tool last year for $250. This think is built like a brick ---- house. It will grind as much as you can throw at it and beg for more. It does not have a brand name on it, just Meat grinder. I think it is a 650watt 3/4 horse power, and not plastic parts.

If your doing small amount a hand grinder or food proseccor attachments will work just fine. However if you plan on doing large quanities best to buy a 3/4 hp grinder. I bought an industrial one off my butcher pal it it mows through meat at 1 hp/variable speed, it also has sausage attachements but at well over G new, it ain't for the DIYer. Before that I used a small grinder and hand balmer, I just did it as I needed.

Most good quality ones will run you 250 and up if you want to get real serious about grinding.
