Jerry I hope the adventure proves to be a satisfying for you as it has for me. Deer meat has its own taste, as do many other kinds of meat. It is always interesting to find out what seasoning works well with it and what doesn't.
A simple roast recipe I have used for many years (It works great for deer, good for beef and poorly for pork): 1/4 cup (for a small roast like a shoulder roast) to 1/3 cup (for a large roast like a ham) of Durkee Steak Seasoning https://www.durkeefoodservice.com/pr...EASONING--26OZ One can of beer (any kind) One packet of Lipton mushroom onion soup mix Place the roast in the crock pot. Sprinkle the soup mix over it. Add the can of beer. Add enough water fill the crock pot to a depth of about 1 inch above the top of the roast. Set the crock pot to high just before bed time. In the morning turn the crock pot to low and let it cook all day while you are at work (Add water back to the crock pot if needed to keep the roast covered while you gone to work). Serve in a bowl with noddles and the broth Thanks Mr-Pirk |
Interesting recipe. I haven't tried the overnight method but can see where it would be fork tender.
