Slow cooked venison roast

I'm anti-crockpot. With the exception of the occasional dip for a potluck or something (out of necessity of convenience), I just don't feel that they're necessary. Just another counter space consuming appliance. So when I "slow cook" things, I almost always mean braise or slow roast in a pot in either the oven or on the stove.
For this roast, I browned my roast, and braised in the oven on very low heat for several hours. The meat was very juicy and tender, but not that rubbery mush "tender" texture that you get from the crockpot. It made plenty of gravy to put over homemade mashed spuds. And I used Stovetop stuffing...don't judge me, lol. |
Cooking
Deer are an example. They're beautiful, and I love to see them. But they also tend to overpopulate in the environment humans create. When humans arrived here in Nova Scotia, there were relatively few if any deer. When we cut down most of the forests and replaced them with gardens and crops, we created an environment that is far more hospitable to deer than the ancient forests.

That really does look good. I cook mine with carrots and potatoes and then onion soup mix sprinkled over the roast. That way I can make gravy out of the drippings. But that plate of food looks wonderful. And stove top stuffing is excellent. I use a can of chicken broth instead of water when I make my Stove Top stuffing.

Looks great. Nothing wrong with stove top. In fact for a quick meal I get turkey breast from the deli and roll with turkey stove top, Place the rolls in a glass baking dish and pour on jar turkey gravy, just heat n eat. doesn't get much more simple than that.

lol im procrockpot and my stuff always comes out really well. What kind of crock have u used in the past?
