Waterlogged meat
As you can tell by the number of my posts I am a novice hunter and am in need of some help.
I actually got a deer a couple days ago, quartered it and put in on ice. When I got home a couple of the ziploc bags busted in transit and the ice water soaked the meat. Someone please tell me that the meat is not ruined (or unfortunatley if it is). |
As long as its cold it is fine. No harm.

I wouldn't be worried about, just dry it up before processing or cooking. That water soak got the blood out of the meat thats all.

Thanks folks

I have seen people soak larger cuts of deer meat in salt water similar to what some do with rabbit and squirrel. The meat is fine.
|
Thanks again. I'm very happy I can still eat it.

When I butcher one , I skin it then cut it into large rough cuts and pack in ice in a big cooler for a couple days then finish processing it as I have time. just remember to drain water every once in a while and add ice as needed. As posted before, it gets alot of the blood out.
