Opening morning breakfast.

I started a little tradition a few years ago and I cook a large breakfast on opening morning of firearms season, usually get started around 10AM. I just got back from the store with about 5 pounds of sausage, 2 dozen eggs, 3 pounds of peppered bacon, 2 large bags of hash browns, and 24 biscuits. I have a large stainless steel flat grill that came out of a restaurant in a buddies garage and I just cook it all on there (minus the biscuits and gravy). It cuts my opening morning hunt a little short but in my eyes it is worth it. It's good for all the guys to get together over a good meal and tell some opening day stories. Anybody else have any opening morning traditions?

Not so much opening day, but opening eve. We get together with the hunters and friends from our neck of the woods. Big WI fish fry, lots of beverages, pickled herring, pickled eggs, pickled veggies, everything that can be pickled is there. Someone usually has bear sausage, homemade kraut, and lots of good times. That is in many ways better than the actual hunt. The best part of deer season is getting together with great people that you may not see again until next season.
