The foil wrapped packet is a classic. take some aluminum foil a pat of butter,a hamburger, an onion slice, a slice of green pepper, a few potatoslices, sliced Zuccinni, some mushroon slices, salt and pepper, more butter. Warp into a packet then take another piece of foil and wrap again. place in the coals for about 30 minutes. pull out and open the packet, enjoy. You can add any veggies you like , it works best with hamburger as the fat bastes the veggies and doesn't burn too much.

Campers pies

Just like a grilled cheese but you put pizza fixings in along with your cheese. You'll need some pie irons http://www.ahappycamper.com/products/pie-irons/camp-chef.html or the like.

Use TexasToast, butter the outside and lay in a hot iron. Add filling ( shredded cheese, ham, pepperoni, onion, pizza sauce and whatever else you like). Put the iron back together and into the fire it goes. See smoke ,,,, flip it and cook the other side,,,, see smoke,,,, take it out and eat it. Very hot!!! But good!!!:)

When you make your campfire ring make it quite a bit larger than needed for the fire that you plan to have. Make your fire in the down wind side of the circle of stones. Place two flat stones in the upwind side of the circle 18 inches or so apart and place a rectangular grill on them so that the grill spans the gap between them and is six or seven inches from the ground. As your fire burns coals will form which can be raked across and under the grill.

With this set up you can cook anything that you cook on a grill, steaks, fish, chops, burgers, chicken, even vegetables (I know- FOOD eats vegetables.).

The fire on the down wind side of the ring supplies coals for the grill on the up wind side. You could even get a Dutch oven going and get serious about your cooking.

Wow, how long does it take you to set up your camp site;)? Seriously, that is sweet set up there.
