what can you do with your turkey fryer?

we have friends who go camping alot and they always have what they call " steam pot" at least once when they are vacationing . twice we have been invited on steam pot night. they just use a large canner pot on their coleman stove for this. the dinner consitis of steamed keilbasa or smoked sausage with either shrimp or scallops -i beileve. also it has potaoes w/peel on them and corn on the cob cut in small peices, cauliflower, carrots or just whatever they have to put in the pot at the time. it was absolutely delicious and we loved it.

we went out after ward and bought us a turkey fryer--for this purpose and others. we have had several grand get togethers with friends and family, where we used the turkey fryer for steam pot, plus we added cabbage to ours. we have yet to actually use it for frying a turkey or chickens but here it also does well for that.
my husband even loaned the cooking ring to his mother to do her out door canning.we love the turkey fryer. right now a friend of ours has it, he borrowed it for a celebration dinner he was throwing for his daughter. several people we know have bought them one after seeing or being told how well ours work.

i was just wondering what all do you guys who have turkey fryers do with them? any special recipes/ideas you have? and want to share.i was recently in the home of another woman who had the cooking ring and propane tank --(i did`nt see a pot or fryer) but beleive as we were just came out of a power outage that she was using this for heating water--perhaps for baths and cooking cleaning, ect..thanks, annie.

Use the it with an old cast Iron pot to make sinkers, great to cook crabs or lobster so you don' t smell up the house on the lil ol lady, cooking Turkey takes 1-2 tries to get it perfect, you have to follow directions. oil too hot and you burn the skin middle will be uncooked. Oil not hot enough and the bird will dry out before it is cooked. Check with a thermometer half hour before it is supposed to be done.

LA you might want to par boil the potatoes for 10 min first to cut down on the cooking time for the lobster and clams or mussels, so there not over cooked. Sounds like some good good times over there.

Sometimes I' ll wash my feet off in out turkey pot after a rough day. LOL

Actually, I like the stem pot. We use sausage, shrimp, carrots, onions, hot peppers, corn, and even some olives for flavor.

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
