Omelets at camp

Got this off another hunting site;)

Take a 1 qt freezer bag , crack in 2 eggs, toss in cheese, peppers onions .whatever. Squeeze out all the air and knead to mix and scramble. Place in pot of boiling water for 13 minutes and serve. When making for a group each can take a magic marker and writetheir name on there's. You can make about 8 at a time or use 2 pots. Just made one and couldn't believe how simple and good it is. Also more healthy than frying.

Sorry Ice-man I did not see that anyone had ask but Mallard has the link. Works great and keeps small minds busy when camping.
You can also cook a cake in a paper bag. Coat the bag with veg.oil, Mix the cake mix and add to the inside of the bag. Place on hot coals, not fire. It will cook and not burn the bag.

I still think it's a great Idea even with the concerns of zip lock. So this is what I'm thinking :D. Instead of useing ziplock tryfood saver bags. Make them the day before keep cold and when ready cut a corner. No pun intended [8D]. Orgettheir quart bags when camping, if you don't have electricity, use zip ties to close the top and stand them on end. I haven't tried it yet but it sure looks good on paper. Food saver bags are boil proof :D

How many of you have trouble with eggs breaking in your coolers? While your packing your cooler, put your eggs in quart mason jars; cracking them in to the jars, and put theFULL jars in your ice. they stay fresh and when you get ready to cook just pour out what you need. no fuss no mess.

jerseyhunter 05-03-2007 05:55 PM

RE: Omelets at camp

yes but the bag stays upright and the zipperpart stays above the water.

Ed, there is no substitute for a piece ofTortilla De Chorizoon Cuban bread!:D:D:D

Tortilla Espanola - Spanish Omelet Step-by-Step

So many people love "tortilla" but are hesitant to prepare it themselves, thinking that it is difficult. Nothing could be farther from the truth! It has only 4 ingredients and takes about 30 minutes to prepare. In act, the hardest part to the tortilla is flipping it over, so that it cooks on both sides.

There are cooking bags out there.

http://www.mqplastics.com/boil-nylon-bags.html?boil

My only thought is flashing back to my army days (Canadian)when we had a thing called a ham omelette. You could boil it. You could fry it. You could add ketchup, salt, pepper and tabasco to it. But it was all in vain because it still tasted like crap.[:@]
