Crock Pot cooker

I bought a 6 1/2 qt west blend cooker a while go. It seems this slow cooker isn't very slow, The lowest tempsetting is marked low and reaches 200 degrees. The next settingis hi and reaches 300. Over cooking meals has been real easy [:'(]. Which I understand I have to adjust my cooking time. But it raises this ?, are these the average temps?

Sorry Black Lab,

I wished it was Walmart where you { From WALMART}It is wonderful. We both teach so she just sets the desired temperature and leaves all day. All meals have been 5 star.

We have a thermastically one. You set the temp and you are good to go.

It's a West Bend and holds about 8 quarts. What ever Temperature you set it at ..it stays.

Thanks for the imput guys. This crock pot I have has two settings low, and hi. For a slow cooker it seems hot, so Ifilled it with water andtook it's temp. Thats how I no how hot it is, just seemsit shouldn't get that hot. Oh well just have to watch it.

Black Lab,
My wife must have had one of those. It kept scorching the food so we to took it back and got one where you could control the temp better.

I'm not sure what their average temp range is , but it sounds like you got a defective one , I'd take it back before it burns the house down. We have aWest Bend , and it just barely bubbles on the high setting , at 300 I think it would probably be smoking and setting off thesmoke detector . Better safe than homeless .
