Anyone Use these for Scouting?

The Video Camera Case deals. The Case where you put your own video camera inside and it takes video of deer, just like a Digital Trail Cam.

I see Mad Calls has one called the WILDLIFE EYE for $299.99. Uses infared for nighttime capturing..

Just curious...

thought it was kinda interesting..

You can build your own with a video camera for that price . I know alot of prople who use them , including me .

I posted a couple clips from it in another topic but will repost them here so you can see how they look .

The day time footage is not as good since Ihad it towards the west a little bit and the sun was was going down .

Day clip HERE

Night Clip HERE

Keep in ming you loose a little bit when you convert it over to .WMV .

Yes depending what you can pick up a video camera for on E-bay . I won a Sony TRV37 for just under $100 .

Base cost ( no camo dipped case )

Pelican 1300 case = $37.50
Board for camera = $50 to $70
IR array = $76
Video camera = $125
12V battery $14
MISC. parts $20

Thats $342.50 with the $70 dollar board and a higher price for the video camera than I paid by $25. If you went with a pixcontroller LE board you could knock of $20 from total .

Keep in mind this unit will have much much better night time footage since you are using a better array then they have on their unit . I have test clips that you can see me @ 100 feet at night .

Not to mention it is fun to build them !

Thanks Moose ! If you go the HF.com look for a member named treetop . He has some great footage from his homebrew unit . Mr.Pike also has a huge 9 pointer I think it was on a homebrew .

Its a great feeling when you get footage and know that it was from something you put together your self .
