New Trail Cam ????????

Im looking for a good waterproof trail cam. Simplicity is a must along with short lag and startup time. It would also be nice if I could find one that takes a Olympus XD card since that’s what my digital camera takes and I already have a card reader and software for it. I have no experience with trail cams so any and all help would be appreciated

Thanks Dan

I have a film cam from Wal Mart and I hate it. It's a real battery hog and has very short range. Spend the money and get something that's going to work well. I went the cheap route and spent more money on batteries and dead film than I should've.

I bought one of those cheap Wal-Mart cameras, and I couldn't be happier. It is perfect for the area I set it up in. The path is only 15 feet wide. The camera will only take a picture at about 12 feet. This way the trees cannot set the camera off.

What digis are you cpomparing with the Cuddeback. I ask this because I have owned 2 Cuddebacks and they are nowhere near the cam that the Leaf Rivers are. The Leaf River is a best buy. Better controls, easier operation, double to triple the battery life and a MUCH better image quality.

Build your own digital . I see you want an Oly cam and you can build a great digital from the Olympus D-380 .

You will not find a better digital than a homebrew Sony P41 . Add a remote slave flash and nothing will touch it .

Just my two cents on it .

Here are a couple pictures from a P41 ( home made unit )

Last two are with an added remote slave flash
