Rubs
Found a rub on a small cedar this weekend, the tree wasn't over 5' tall and maybe and inch in dia. I've heard that the bigger the tree the bigger the buck. Was wondering what you all thought. Some one told me it's probably a dominant buck since the velvot should be gone by now.

RE: Rubs
I DOOUBDT HAT YOU ARE GOING TO FING A DOMINANT BUCK SCRAPING A SAPLING. I WOULD BE MORE INCLINED TO THINK THAT IS WAS A YOUNGER BUCK TRYING TO ASSERT HIMSELF

RE: Rubs
I my experience, I have found and seen bigger bucks rubbing on anything from samplings to larger, 10 inch trees or even bigger trees. So it is hard to say, but only the bigger bucks will rub the larger trees.

RE: Rubs
I have had the same experience. A big buck will rub anything but only a big buck will rub big trees.

RE: Rubs
Big bucks will often rub saplings, especially when removing velvet

RE: Rubs
This time of year big bucks will rub on anysize tree, they are just startung to bulk up their neck for the rut. The later the season the bigger the trees will be that the big boys rub on. Right now there is know way of telling how big a buck is by the size of tree it rubs. In October this will be more evident.

RE: Rubs
Last year I watched a 6 point rub the crap out of tiny tree like you described. Wehn I got a closer look, I saw the rub he made was about a foot off the ground and a foot and a half long.
