I don't consider this baiting. I don't hunt over the minerals I have out though. I hunt over what is already there, acorns, corn, soybean. I consider the stuff I have out as a supplement. I have some stuff called lucky buck out, but it is $20 a bucket, about every two months. I think that I will try that new 'recipe' posted earlier. certainly more economical and less labor intense. thanks.

Unfortunately, unless something has changed that I am unaware of, it is currently illegal to put out salt/mineral licks in Illinois.(even during the non hunting season) This being due to the CWD scare that has hit our state. Even before when it was legal, licks are considered baiting if hunted over during season.

ive only once seen a deer specifically come to a lick after september. this was in december and it was a fawn.i would never consider it bait.

Would this be considered baiting? Because I dont want to be found with a hole in the vicinity of my stand. Ive seen what salt block holes look like, and that would probably happen with this too.
I checked with the Wisconsin DNR, and yes it is illegal to place a mineral lick during the off season. [:'(] It is however legal to put them out during the hunting season. That makes no sense, when the deer need it the most you can't do it because it is concidered baiting, and as stated earlier deer do not visit these sites very often after Aug. or Sept. I do not consider this to be baiting, IMO I consider this to be helping the deer herd, along with planting food plots.
