Bib Overall Question????

hey guys i have a question i have a creek that i have to cross to hunt and right now its only about a foot deep but in the winter it can get waist deep. I was wondering if i buy a pair of bibs that are water proof if that would save me from having to freeze after touching water??

Chest waders would work,but not water resistant bibs.
