What would you do ???????

my Brother got permission to bow hunt a new farm.He went out to hang a stand in an area he had scouted out with alot of deer signs. When he got to the area.He noticed a trail cam and stand already there now.So he went back to the farm. The farmer asked why he had come back with stand in hand.He told him about the other stand there already.

The farmer got upset. And said the guy didnt have permission to hunt there.THE GUY being a IDNR Officer also has a bait pile set out.Around the stand. Now my brother is worried the dnr officer is going to be out to get him for getting him kick out/found out.My brother had no idea really what he had gotten himself into untill now.But he really wants to hunt this property.

What would you do with this situation?

Turn the Officer in for baiting deer during a banned on baiting and feeding? This guy has to know there is a ban!!He's a DRN OFFICER who writes out tickets to us for breaking the game laws.

It's not how big the Deer,But the size of the experiance that matters!!

Hmmm, this is a tricky topic. If you got on his bad side he probally would try to make your life miserable. But if it were me I would keep cool and probally try to use this to my advantage. go back to area find a well used trail, follow back or away from his site, and set up stand. catch the deer going to his setup. As long as your not hunting over the pile :) But if you dont want him hunting there I would go to him face to face and say hey your not welcome on this land. please take your setup else wear or else........ good luck

Turn him in, no one is above the law. He wouldn't hesitate to do the same. Perhaps he won't be an officer any longer.

I agree, turn the guy in; especially if he's a DNR officer. Would you even be pondering this if he wasn't an officer? That should't cloud your/his judgment. Like Rob said, no one is above the law.

God bless,
Brandan

I think that I would let the farmer make the call to the DNR he has the right since it is his property. He could call the local sheriff's dept and explain it to them they can take care of it from there you should not be involved that way your brother will be in the clear. It is one way that you can go and no one gets in too much trouble. Good luck and Be SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you realy want to do it up right call him in to another game warden or take another game warden out to this site and catch him in the act and make a big stink if thay don't fire him if it was you up in that tree he wouldn't hesitate !!!! But cover your tail and make sure you have all your ducks in a row

I think round ball has the best one yet.The farmer is HOT,He already pulled the guy's stand and camera and is going to deliver it to the officers home.Personally i would take pictures and turn him in about the bait pile. But i can see my brothers side of it too.He dosent want this guy laying for him either.

On the other hand,He's taking advantage of his authority and doing as he pleases and thats wrong and illegal.

It's not how big the Deer,But the size of the experiance that matters!!

The way I look at it is
He dont have permission to be there = He is a POACHER
He has set up over an illegal bait pile.
He dont deserve to be a DNR Officer his Butt should be in jail for what he is a criminal.

He would not have a second thought about putting your brother in the slammer if your brother was doing what this so called DNR is doing.

Report the SOB

I'd thank the farmer for his time, and permission, but would opt out for the year. Let the farmer do what he wants. For me, I hate controversy during hunting. Hunting should be a peaceful time, not clouded with "issues". Sometimes we have to deal with it, but it can taint an otherwise good hunting season. I'd explain to the farmer that next year, I'd like to be able to ask permission again, but would not wnat to make life difficult for anyone that year.

It's easy to coach a team from the stands boys! I don't know what I would do in that situation. I think I would do the right thing and turn him in. The farmer should take the cam and stand to his boss instead of his house and go from there.
