biscuit noise
 

I put a new whisker biscuit (deluxe with the b2) on and am shooting great groups but a little noise drawing the arrow back. Its not much and I'm still using aluminum. Anybody have any experience with this? I'm thinking the deer will hear this. You know how you can hear the smallest noise when out hunting. They only had the carbon biscuits so I just trimmed it up but have plenty of room. I'm wondering if the aluminum biscuit will be quieter but thinking not.

There is a guy here in Maine that makes professional bowhunting videos. While in his shop the other night, I had the good fortune to sit and watch the latest video with him and the other hunter in the movie. It was fun to have them giving us the "scoop" on stuff that happened of camera.
ANYWAY, he said "watch this, this is why I no longer will shoot a wisker biscuit." As he drew on a deer, you could hear the arrow on the biscuit, the deer, which was relaxed and walking, jerked its head up and stared directly at the camera and hunter. He didn't get to shoot.

I have been considering getting one of these until I saw this.

Simple solution I learned at my local pro shop for the draw back noise of a biscuit. Take a piece of mole skin about 3-4" long and biscuit hole wide, set it inside the arrow hole and fold the ends down over the front and back of the rest. Your arrow now will rest on the mole skin and you'll be dead silent when drawing back. I drew on a doe at 8yds while sitting on a pale on the ground with the mole skin in the biscuit and she never knew I was there. It'll only last about 25 to 30 shots so practice without the mole skin. Before you go out hunting, slap that little strip in and you're set. One last thing, you'll have to shoot with the odd vane/feather up so the 2 even will clear the the mole skin. Otherwise if you shoot with the odd down it'll come in contact with the mole skin and throw your arrow out of whack. Worked superbly for me, I hope this helps you.

The best thing to do is when the deer bolts from the noise try and catch up to it and tell it how good your groups are. Maybe it will lay down for you.

That darn funny bone of mine is acting up again. I sure hope you think so.

If taking 30 seconds to ensure your bow is quiet to hunt with is a pain in the a$$ then I'll take it every time. :D
