3D Shooting Towers

Anybody have a picture of their club's 3D shooting tower/platform? (if your club has one)

We're looking at building one and I'd like to see some others to decide what design to go with.

I was kind of thinking of putting in an oversized jungle gym with a rock climbing wall on one side and a slide on the other ........but the boss wasn't real keen on that idea.

Check your club's liablility insurance policy. Most prohibit using any type of elevated platform.

Thanks for the concern Arthur P, we're okay with the tower. We must've paid off the right people. ;)

This is the only one I could dig up that I have in my files. Sorry it wasn't a better view but it gives you a generally idea. Just a large staircase with rails.

I dont have a pic of the one where I usually shoot, but they have two and they are both made just like a deck on your house. They have a large platform about 8 feet by 8 feet or so, elevated to about 10-15 feet. On is on the side of a very steep draw and you shoot down into the draw making it seem like your much higher than you are. They both have handrails all the way around and stairs with rails to get up. They are my favorite shots to shoot. We shoot two targets from each elevated stand.

Angus what club do you shoot down there? I have been to several shoots with shooting decks and they were all pretty much built like decks with railing all the way around and a staircase.

don't have any pictures, but one thing to watch for is the height of the railing where the shooters will shoot. Not very hard to make it to high when you factor in the "vertically challenged" folks and if you make it to low, it might be considered a safety hazard.

Of course some of this depends on the shot angle.

I'll have to get a pick of the one my dad just built in his front yard. It's actually a double platform. He has 1 that's 10 feet up with another stacked 10 feet above it so you can shoot from a real treestand hight. He has bow hangers mounted all around as well as a stairway with enclosed handrails so it's actually really safe and sturdy. he also has a pully system attached so that 1 person can pull all the arrows from the various 3d targets we have and send them up to the shooters without walking the whole way up.
