ASAT, and what you layer with.

So I met a guy who is an ASAT dealer here in Spokane, and I'm planning on purchasing a 3D suit from him before next season. My question is, what have you found best for layering during the late season? Wool? Fleece? Under Armor?

I start with X-static, then a layer of thin fleece. On top of that goes a thick layer of fleece. Then uninsulated Cabelas MT050 gore-tex scent lok and top it off with the ASAT 3-D suit.

I usually wear a pair of jeans. It doesn't get too cold down here!

-10 was the coldest it got here this year, my glove froze to my grip during a snow storm in December. It gets pretty cold here.

I like to wear x-scent against the skin. Then put on some fleece. Depeding on how cold it is determines how much. Then on top of that I like to wear insulated bibs and a coat. Then the leafy suit goes on.

I use Polyprotheline under garments. I hope I spelled it correctly. It wicks away sweat holds in warmth and keeps wind out. Hey hows the hunting up there maybe the military will get me up there? Good luck

You know, the answer to that question of course depends on how warm it is that day and what type of hunting you are goingt to be doing. If you are doing stalk hunting you don't need nearly as much as you would need doing stand hunting. When I still hunted in early December this year it was 10 degrees or so and I just wore some long underwear type stuff, fleece pants, insulated bibs, and on top I wore the same except no thick Jacket and a second, tight fitting fleece shirt. as it made it to hard to move. Was I cold? By the end of the day, when the sun had creaped down and I was in the shadows...Yes. Mid day with nice sun reflecting off the snow, nope, plenty warm. Good boots, handmuff of somesort or gloves, and a good hat go a long way in keeping you warm.

First layer is X-Static , then from there it really depends on how cold it is. What's nice about the ASAT 3D leafy suit is that it is stretchy and will fit over larger garments. Last year I put it over a plain-jane coat w/ thinsulate, waterproof, etc. Worked okay, but the coat made a bit too much noise. This year, I am getting a heavy wool coat...doesn't get much quieter than wool.
