turkey decoy for deer

Has anyone messed around with using a turkey decoy in deer season as a means of distracting the deer? I have often seen turkey and deer together and wondered if this is a dumb idea!

I plan to do so this fall, moreso as a means to attract turkeys as I'm told they won't spook deer.

I have read that they can be an excellent distraction. I would be careful with your scent though.
