RE: please tell me just one negative to crossbows

missed_another Let us know when that P&Y walks up and lets you shoot him. You DO have a crossbow, it should be ridiculously easy :D

They cost to much.
They're not repeaters.
THEY'RE TOO DANG NOISY!!!!
Definelty cons to how good the bow is to shoot but not con's to banning them from archery season.

MQ1shooter - I don't tell people the shots they should take and they don't tell me the ones I should take. It actually works VERY well. I use to argue long shots were unethical etc etc ........ but its a factless argument that hinges on huge variables that are undetermined until the moment of the shot.

I'll tell you this - lots of guys shoot and miss deer at 15-20 yards and even less. Chuck Adams likely RARELY misses out to 75 yards or beyond. He KNOWS how to kill animals that far - his perrogative, not mine.

Dude - if you want to hunt during bow season, do what the rest of us have done. Learn to shoot a bow.

Crossbows may have bow-like ballistics, but they have firearm like handling characteristics. You know they don't belong in bow season - you're looking for an easy way out.

No doubt. Take off the training wheels, the high letoff, the sights and triggered releases and fancy gizmos and gadets. Shooting one of those high tech, high powered, ultra accurate shooting machines is looking for an easy way out.

IF you don't shoot a recurve or longbow, you aint a REAL bowhutner - right thesource ??

I really don't care what season crossbows are allowed in, what bugs me is that some people do! and for no apparent reason other than selfishness. The only logical way to find out if it will effect your state is to look at the states that do allow them during the archery season. I have seen no ill effects from those states have you?

You know, you guys jump all over me when I say "nobody is reading my posts" yet no one has answered this question.

You guys better get with the program here. You've got at least another 500 posts to go before you equal the length of the crossbow debate on Bowsite a few years ago. [8D]

I don't know were you guys have been, but there has been lots a answers to the question. It's just that every answer that someone gives, they get called dumb, or there point gets only looked at by one side of the fence. It's an OPINION that you don't accept so It will probably hard to get any one who wants to talk to you anymore.

Silent's point..... as we have learned that he lives in a very very bad neighborhood and his children will join gangs and do drugs if they don't get to shoot crossbows during archery season.
It is not "my" season, it is all of us archers season. I also hunt with ML's, rifles and shotguns .. and I must wait every year to use them. I love my bow, but also love to grab my shotgun and hunt birds or chase bears ... it's ok that hunters must wait till their appropriate season. Each year we wait till fall to hunt deer, wait till spring to hunt turkeys... it's part of the sport... waiting.
Well MaJay I did grow up in a real bad neighbor hood. I have been shot at once and cut with a knife twice and I watched a guy get stabbed 37 times my second week of junior high. I live in a much better place now but if you don't think there is meth and or drugs in your neighborhoods than you are a fool. This thread isn't about people waiting it's about your arogance and you your greed and your need to feel special. So say they should all just have to wait. Well I guess that means the handi-capped shouldn't be able to shoot crossbows wither (though you have flipped flopped on that issue:eek:). No difference is there? Just make them wait. If you aren't capable of shooting a compound then you don't deserve to hunt? That's your basic argument right?

Opinion is what is used to say the crossbow isn't a bow or shouldn't be allowed in archery season

Facts are what backs the people who say it doesn't matter if crossbows are allowed because they have no negative impact on archery season what so ever.

Well Data, That is your OPINION Is'nt it!

Well Data, That is your OPINION Is'nt it!
No, actually it isn't. You can go online and search the history of the deer seasons of Arkansas, Ohio, Texas, and other states, look at how the harvest numbers and deer seaons have progressed and its very easy to see that the inclusion of crossbows in general archery season has had no negative impacts. Look at Canada too if you want.

All factual information ............. and if you overlook those facts its because you have a strong view of crossbow based on Opinions and stuck in the idea that they are bad for archery season. That view, which is factless, is centered mostly around selfish reasons I've found.
