Thanks for the advice. Sounds like you guys know all aobut how frustrating it is. Four more 'no tresspassing' signs are going up saturday morning.

I'm kicking myself for not letting him get his picture taken. I think that would have kept him from taking the stand. But I didn't know how he would react to getting his picture taken while trespassing (keep in mind he was armed with a machete and I was armed with a roll of film).

It's just hard to move that stand. I finally went out and bought a nice comfortable stand because I hunt that exact spot every year. It's a cool spot, narrow woods that funnel the deer from 40,000 acres of state land (why the 'squirrel hunters' can't hunt there is beyond me) to farmland. The deer (for some reason bucks only!) also cross another narrow patch of woods between two ponds right there. I've seen a lot of nice bucks from that stand.

I know I should move the stand but I'm not going to. I think I'm going to leave a note on the stand saying something to the affect of 'did you smile for the cameras?

Also, I'm going to take the stand down long enough to engrave my name and phone number (maybe drivers license #?) on the stand. Problem is that stand weighs 26 pounds. I have my name and number engraved on my other stands just forgot to do it to this one. If anything I'll swap the nice stand with one of my Bear River Brown Bear stands. Another option is to return my new stand and buy another el'cheapo.

I always etch my name into all my stands and in more than 1 place. Always have identifying marks on that baby. That is a good idea and wise of you to do

YOU KNOW I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THIS YEAR. HERE I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A 160 ACRE PLOT, THAT I OWN, WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN I SEE THE BRUSH MOVING. YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I AM THINKING. GREAT BIG BUCK!!!!! WELL LONG STORY SHORT 6'6" HAS ITS ADVANTAGES AND SO DID MY 40 CALIBER. SO IT WENT BACK TO THE HOUSE AND GOT A TREE STAND LOCK. I HAVE SINCE SEEN THEM IN THE WOODS TWICE

All right your gonna want to listen up to what I have to say so pay attention and if you have any questions or concerns you need to ask them. (This goes for everyone else as well)

What you got there carrying those machetes are what we call Hmongs (silent H, phonetically would be Mong). They are a crafty and cagey character but are definately huntable (especially over bait). Did you note the way the eye-balled your camera and stand? You guessed it, BAIT!

Now some might suggest snares and deadfalls, but my personal preference is to employ mantraps. Very IMPORTANT!!!!

The meat can be a little gamey but if you boil the p!$$ out of it in milk it can be tolerable. Rack, I don't believe that you actually have to put your name and phone on the stand. Just make some identifying marks. That way they won't know what to grind off.

i for one carry a glock 9mm. these guys would have sworn i was clint eastwood when i said go ahead punks make my day. i can guarantee you if they were smart they had better not step foot on my property again.
but you can't be there 24 hr's a day. i would pad lock the stand and take the camera out of the woods. it is too close to the start of the season for the camera. but i would use the camera later on during the prerut on some fresh scapes.

Yup, they just had a couple Friday night Vodkas and are headed for your stand. I didn't know they made such a thing as a 12 inch machete. I call that a big knife.:)

Well, the stand is still there. I put a new cable on it tonight. Best cable I could find. Now i have a huge chain and a cable. Two different locks! They're gonna have to earn this stand!

Someone mentioned something about the trespassers being hmong. It's funny you say that because they were hmong (atleast I think they were). I got no problem w/ them in general I always see them out squirrel hunting. Usually friendly, even when trespassing. hehe.

In addition to being a member of this forum, I am also a member of www.glocktalk.com . I'm sure if you go there, they could give you plenty of advice(not necesarilly good or sane) on how to handle the situation. LOL!!! Personally, I would either move the stand, or secure it some way that I know it's not coming down unless they take tree down too.
