So who is shooting in a league this winter?
Our winter indoor league starts tonight. I was just wondering who else is shooting? We really had a good time last year. We worked on our form a lot and learned a bunch from the folks that had been shooting longer than we have. It was fun to set goals for scoring and the endurance that it builds. For those that haven't done it before, I highly recommend it. Not as much fun as hunting, but it sure is close! Last year a few of us on the boards kept track of our progress and reported on new things we were learning. Check out your local archery clubs or pro-shops for info on how you can get involved.

RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
I shot my first night of leagues Sunday and although i didn't score as high as i would have liked,I had a great time, and had to chuckle at some that were getting their feet wet for the very first time. One thing about us archers,we always seem to go out of or way to help the young ones develope the love of the sport that we all hold so dear.Tribal What league do you attend? Lefty's?

RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
Hidden,
We shoot at Chuck's Archery. We started shooting there last year. The other members of the league were very nice and helpful too. We all had a lot of fun! Chuck can rub people the wrong way sometimes, but once you get to know him, he's a pretty nice guy. I went from a 434/600 to a 547/600 in 10 weeks last year. My goal this year is 570/600. |

Ah Yes I know Chuck well.I wanted to shoot there this year, but I know he was doing some work down by his daughters home, and was told that he wasn't around much.Ive always got along great with Chuck, and look upon him as a close friend.Tell him The Turkey Guy said hello (terry). Those scores aren't to shabby, congrats!!

RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
I'm going to start shooting in league on 1/9. Looking forward to the friends and the form.
Tell Chuck that Jeff Sturgis from MI says hello. Tell him he's the one that comes out and shoots a round or two on his 3D course every year while he's staying with his in-laws nearby. Chuck's an "old-school" target archer. Jeff...U.P. of Michigan. |

I hate to be the dumb one, but we don't have a league around here....that I know of. But what do you actually do on an indoor league? 3-d targets or what? Just curious

RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
Hidden,
I know Chuck's Dad died last week, but otherwise I haven't heard anything about him being at his daughter's. I talked to him last week about shooting league. I'll tell him you said hi. NorthJeff, Chuck is definitely old school. The first time I met him, I didn't like him at all. But he has a lot to offer if you are willing to listen. My form and score improved mostly on his guidance and my hard work. I will tell him you said hello. IL, We shoot at paper targets, 3 spots. We shoot a total of 60 shots at 20 yards for a possible 600 points. We shoot for 10 weeks. A lot of places shoot 5 spot targets and some have indoor 3D ranges. RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
Shoot in Sunday and Wednesday nite 3-D leagues and a Monday nite barebow target league. I'm like 'Lil tho; enjoy most the summer trad league, where we take some really crazy shots at distances my longbow can handle.

I always get a kick out of the ping pong ball bobbing up and down on a column of air from a shop vac. Neat to watch it jump up and down and see who can pin it to the backstop. Also get a kick out of shooting a clay pigeon suspended, swinging on the end of a string. Or the shot taken backwards, while standing on one foot. (Almost had a chance to use that one this last deer season, when a doe snuck up behind me.)

RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
Well, I was going to.....but looks like I will be on the road for awhile! The Army needs my services so much, I won't see my own bed again, for a little while. So gues when I finally get back I will have to set a target up at the camp and practice there!

RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
We started league last sunday night.
What a blast. Although many people compete to win the league I compete against myself just to get better. |
RE: So who is shooting in a league this winter?
We had a blast last night! We decided to use last night as practice because everyone was rusty. This year we are doing two man teams. I am not sure who I will end up with. A friend of ours is coming along this year, which kind of makes him the odd man out. I may pair him up with my husband and find another partner to shoot with. I know more people there than he does. I'm in it for my own personal improvement, not a plaque and prize money. I am glad to hear that there are others doing the same.
