whats up for next year?
its sad to say, but this was my last year of bow hunting for a while, at least on my normal acerage that was private, manageable, and all to myself. next year i am going to bemidji for college and dont know what im going to do about hunting. i was wondering if anybody knew what the public land was like up there or if there are quite a few private ownders that are willing to let me hunt on their land for a few years.

RE: whats up for next year?
I haven't personally hunted up there but I've talked to a few guys who have. Sounds like there is a lot of public land and good deer numbers. If you want me to keep an eye on your spot for you just let me know.

Where is that place?
Look at the bright side. You may not be able to bow hunt but you will now be able to change your focus to a much more rewarding capture. You will be able to go after the most elusive, dangerous and most expensive creature known to man kind, "The Split Tail" Good luck! |

If you go to the MN DNR website, check out the recreation compass. It has a map and info of all Wildlife Management Areas in the state.

RE: whats up for next year?
Never been there but I worked with a guy from the NW corner of the state . He said it's big woods type of hunting and deer are spread out. Take your fishing pole too lot of lakes.

I'm in the same boat as you. Next year I'll be in Ann Arbor Michigan. I don't think theres a lot of deer there;) I won't have a car and home is 2 1/2 hours away. I'm sure going to miss it.

RE: whats up for next year?
Miss it? Some of my best hunting times were in college. Shoot if you plan it right you only have classes for half a day for three days a week. Then you have a week for thanksgiving and a month for Christmas. Plus all the weekends. These will be your golden years for hunting. Wait until you have a job and a wife and kids. LOL. Besides, your using a bow. You could hunt in your backyard with that. Find some local hunting college buddy with a car. or better yet, a co-ed who loves hunting.
