Opinions please....

Has anyone shot those "Accu-vanes", thats the only name brand I know of. They are hard plastic. 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, clip to an insert glued in the rear of the shaft. They claim is they spin the arrow many times faster than standard vanes or feathers, thus allowing the arrow to reach "plane" more rapidly. I saw another brand with a "twisted" nock slot which begins the spin immediately. Your opinions, please.

They must be catching air to cause the shaft to spin. That's a drag. It's slowing down your arrow. I don't think you need them unless you can't get your arrows to fly true. They also sound heavy. Another drag.

I've seen those in mags and saw a guy really pushing to sell them at the IL deer & turkey expo. My personal opinion is that they're a gimmic. I think I'll just stick with regular fletchings....besides, I think those things look stupid! haha

my 'protege' down the street has these. I DO NOT like them at all. no forgiveness when it comes to fletching clearance. they are heavy (I think he is shooting like 9-10 grains an inch) and the spin they put on the arrows, make a hell of a noise. I had him shoot a beman right after that with normal fletching and the difference in noise was unbelivable. arrow was faster too, even though it was for a bow set 10lbs heavier. I think he is now seeing the difference and I hope to have him off them soon.
