RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
![]() All of these deer were wild free rangeing deer. Unfortunatly nothing with antlers appeared for a photo... but I suspect that is because they are dropping their antlers.......... I have found one Small 4 point shed and one Large 4 point shed antler so far....... but still looking for more sheds;) |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Great pictures, so how far away were these deer when you took the pictures?? I loved the detail.
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Awesome pictures, that camera takes really nice pics, deer aint too bad either;)
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Nice pics
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
The camera does take nice pics, I have the model 740 which zooms to 30x. It's tough to get a pic at full zoom though without a tripod. I think DavidMil has the same as you and takes awesom pics of deer through his picture window at night of the deer in his backyard.
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Some of the deer in the pics were from 36 yards to 75yards away and the field deer were hundreds of yards away.............
Md........... a 30X Zoom sounds sweet I would love get get ahold of one of them. I just cant help but wonder what awesome pics I could get with a 30X Zoom. Can you share some pics with us from your camera ? I'd like to see what your camera can do with that power zoom. |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
LF, Don't have any wildlife pics so I took these off the back deck just now. All three are centered on a wagon wheel about 80 yrds away whith the first one at zero zoom, 2nd one at about 10x and the 3rd at 30x.

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Wow, MD...I never realized it would be that much difference.
Now I got to get me one of them!!! |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Very Nice Photos, Thanks for sharing.

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
LadyForge,
Those are some beautiful whitetail pics. How far were the animals away when you shot them? Rick, Is that a combined 30x optical/digital zoom? I am familiar with the C-725 and C-740 as I was just doing some extensive research into buying a new digital camera. The combination of high optical zoom (8-10x) along with the 3+ megapixels had both of those units high on my list. Thanks. |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
I almost had the same questions as Frank. I don't know that much about digital cameras, but I am close to buying a Kodak 6490 with the 10x optical and 3x digital zooms, and if I remember the information right that is assumed a 30x?
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Coug, you are correct. The Olympus 740 which I have is 3.2 MP, 10X didital and 3x optical for 30x. The price has come way down since I bought mine.

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
great pics!!!!!!!!
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
The Olympus C-725 that I have has a Max Optical Zoom of (8X) that can be extended even more by the 3X Digital Zoom, Making possible up to approx 24X Zoom.......I would go for the 30X Zoom if it was me buying it... that zoom on MD'S camera looks pretty good.
I will correct myself on my previous statement some of the pic's were as close as 22 yards. |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
They are all great pictures and, again, I am amazed by the clarity at such high levels of magnification. Normally pictures at that high mag. usually look either grainy or blurry but none of the above mentioned pictures do. Had I seen these pics before I bought my digital camera I probably would have walked home with one of the Olympus models. I don't have any deer pics yet but here is a shot I took at 6x magnification yesterday afternoon. I will see if I can snap a deer pic in the area I hunt later today.

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Great pic there Frank. I don't know if I missed it somewhere above but what camera did you settle on?
BTW, crop damage permits are in and can start hunting again right now so I might be able to get some good deer pics. |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
They are some great pics !!! I have a new Olympus C-7000 and I think I will be selling it. I need a strictly P&S camera. Anyone looking for a great camera, let me know. Has 7.1 MP and 5X Optical zoom.

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Those are some awesome quality pics.

RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Rick,
I ended up with the Fujifilm Finepix S3100. It was a toss up between it, a Minolta model and those Olympus models that you folks have. I wanted a higher magnification than that standard 3X found on most of the digital cameras and yet I also wanted a decent number of megapixels. The S3100 has a 6x optical zoom with another 3.3 digital zoom. However, I can get a telephoto converter kit to increase that by 1.4x IIRC. It is a 4 megapixel model with the rest of the usual "goodies". So far I am fairly happy with it. It is going to be serving double duty as the "family camera" as well as possibly something for digiscoping pictures. ![]() |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Great looking camera Frank and a lot of pixels. Does it have a viewfinder? Thats one of the features I really like on the Olympus, it has a viewfinder and the screen on the back also.
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
Rick,
Yes it does. That little bit of black sticking out behind the flash in the picture is the top edge of it. That was something else that surprised me, the newer digital cameras all have digital viewfinders. My previous one, a Kodak 1.3 megapixel model, only had the clear plastic/glass design. A big improvement in my opinion. |
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
PAB, We just bought that same cam, what is the telephoto converter. Is that for mounting a spotting scope?
|
RE: Pleased with Digital Camera ...Some Pics
My wife and I just bought a Olympus C-770 UltraZoom with a 512 meg card. It has the 10x optical and a 4x digital for a total of 40x. It can take movies and is awesome. I'll try to crop down some of the pictures of deer and turkey I've taken this month and see if I can post them. You can actually count the eyelashes. (WOW!) I've included a link to where I got mine and some of the best prices around.
