LadyForge,

Those are some beautiful whitetail pics. How far were the animals away when you shot them?

Rick,

Is that a combined 30x optical/digital zoom? I am familiar with the C-725 and C-740 as I was just doing some extensive research into buying a new digital camera. The combination of high optical zoom (8-10x) along with the 3+ megapixels had both of those units high on my list.

Thanks.

I almost had the same questions as Frank. I don't know that much about digital cameras, but I am close to buying a Kodak 6490 with the 10x optical and 3x digital zooms, and if I remember the information right that is assumed a 30x?

Coug, you are correct. The Olympus 740 which I have is 3.2 MP, 10X didital and 3x optical for 30x. The price has come way down since I bought mine.

The Olympus C-725 that I have has a Max Optical Zoom of (8X) that can be extended even more by the 3X Digital Zoom, Making possible up to approx 24X Zoom.......I would go for the 30X Zoom if it was me buying it... that zoom on MD'S camera looks pretty good.
I will correct myself on my previous statement some of the pic's were as close as 22 yards.

They are all great pictures and, again, I am amazed by the clarity at such high levels of magnification. Normally pictures at that high mag. usually look either grainy or blurry but none of the above mentioned pictures do. Had I seen these pics before I bought my digital camera I probably would have walked home with one of the Olympus models. I don't have any deer pics yet but here is a shot I took at 6x magnification yesterday afternoon. I will see if I can snap a deer pic in the area I hunt later today.

Great pic there Frank. I don't know if I missed it somewhere above but what camera did you settle on?
BTW, crop damage permits are in and can start hunting again right now so I might be able to get some good deer pics.
