Bear Hunt

I can't go on the hunt this year anyway but antelope doesn't really appeal to me a great deal. But I was thinking of some hunts that I would be interested in and I wondered what kind of hunt the rest of you would be interested in. I was thinking a bear hunt would be a fun hunt for members to get together on. We could fish etc. in the morning and then hunt in the evenings and most likey kill multiple animals. Would anyone be interested in a hunt like that or what in particular would you be interested in? I am just trying to guage interest here. Thanks

RE: Bear Hunt

I'm certainly interested in bear hunting. I've never been but have been doing much reading and was planning to do some baiting this fall. I would depend on where the hunt takes place mostly though. I'm working on a limited budget so long travel and pricey outfitters would exclude me. I'm certainly interested though.

Another question is what type of hunt would you want to put together? It's possiably to get a "full boat" being lodging, meals, hunt, and trophy care as well or just baiting services where a guide will start baits for you pre hunt?

More info eagerly requested:)

I don't know adams I am interested in suggestions. I would go for either type of hunt depending on what others are interested in if anyone is in fact interested. You got any suggestions? I personally would prefer to hunt in the states for spring bear but I don't know what states allow baiting spring bear and I don't know which states offer good bear hunting. Anyone else know of any good places to go?

RE: Bear Hunt

From what I've read I do not believe any of the eastern states allow spring bear baiting. Canada would be the best bet but I anticipate it will be out of my price range. Some of what I read was older material but I think Washington may have spring bear hunting but I'd have to investigate it more. Even if they did it would likely be cheaper to go visit our friends to the north. IMO the odds for a trophy (book bear) are better up north.

If you want a spring bear hunt then for east coast people Quebec would be the place to go. I would look into that and remember your money is worth 125% up here. we lost our spring hunt here in Ontario due to a well heeled and organized anti hunt lobby. For west coast vancouver Island has some of the best black bear hunting on the continent.

Sounds like something I may like to do as long as it is spring bear not fall.

Put me down for next year SA as long as beer can be included after I drop my new rug.

If you are looking to go on a hunt for bear we have great hunting here in Alberta. You can expect many different phases in just about every area from black to blonde and cinnamon to brown. I would suggest looking in Andrew Lake Lodge. I have never hunted there but know people who have and have enjoyed themselves.

Depending on what type of services you want it can be. Only problems is Maine in a fall hunt as well as NH. I'm pretty sure VT is a fall hunt too.

I don't agree. I've done it and personally would never do it again. Not over bait anyway. I might would try a spot and stalk, but not bait. Once was enough.

You just need to use yourself for the bait. No stalking involved.

Before we go can everyone post their time in the 440 please?

The problem you're going to run into with a spring bear hunt is that a lot of places are already booked up for this year, which is what I found out a month ago when I was looking to book one for myself. Also, most places that offer bear hunts can only accomodate a few hunters at a time, which eliminates the chances for a nice big group hunt.

Quit being sissies and come antelope hunting with us.
