which carbon?

I shoot a 30inch draw at 70lbs, no overdraw. These arrows will be for hunting deer and 3D. Beman, ACC, Gold Tip, ect. What do you guys think?

RE: which carbon?

Hey MInn,

My preference in carbons have been Carbon Express CX300. This arrow should be spined sufficiently for you draw length and weight depending on point weight. I have harvested turkey, deer and black bear with these shafts with no problems. I have also shot the Gold Tip and the ACC's, both very good arrows but I found that the Gold Tips had a little too much variation in weight and spine from arrow to arrow and the ACC's were slightly prone to bending and are very expensive. I don't have any experience with the Beman or Easton ICS arrows. Hope this helps.

I liked the gold tips for what it was worth. Its just to simple although I am understanding that some of the other carbon manufactors are/have been coming out with the same deal GT's have 3 arrow systems. Only complaint is no one up here seems to know how to get tips glued in LOL...dont matter good ole hot melt works for what I am doing

Hey Mn bowhunter. You are from ST Paul...what side? Spent some years growing up on the east side. My uncle works over at the compound doctor in White Bear Lake.....spent most of my time over at Bwana (uncle wasnt working at the CD yet) John Sr and Sharon were still running the shop. When I left, John Jr just took over.

Lilhunter,

Yeah, I live on the east side near the main 3M complex. I mainly go to the compound doctor (Now owned by Archery Experts). I know John and Sharon over at Bwana, John is in my bow chapter of Safari Club, so I see him fairly often. Jr. had his own shop for a while in Champlin or something, but closed it down after about 2 or 3 years, he is back working at Bwana now I think. What is your uncles name? I know most the guys at the Doc. Small world.

I used to shoot Carbon Express 300's,but have since switched to Carbon Impacts.I like the Impacts a little better than the 300's,because they dont gum up as much when firing into the backstops.

Dang dude..really small world LOL MY ole man works at 3m as a millwright. My uncles name is Mike Foster, glasses beard, the quiet humble type. I was just home too. Shot 2 deer, a nice 4pt at my ole mans place in forest lake and a big ole doe up by Hinckley. What were you doing in ak? Airforce? Army here, arrived in 96 also.....maybe you just happened to be my long lost twin ! Shoot me an email sometime..I come home every so often. Its not looking good for 2002 but definatly in 2003, possibly going to Mo for a turkey hunt, that or out west for some merriams action! Spent a couple years on edgerton st. Used to fish phalen in my float tube and shoot at the phalen archery range. Rode my mt bike out to my ole mans place in Scandia and hunted the local farms. Dang near had a nice 8 pointer this year(2001)! only a couple more steps before he finally hit my scent stream. Saw him both the 2 days I hunted there...DURING the rifle season...I will talk at ya....

Dan

Ps, tell Mike he needs to get up here sometime before I get to old or to busy or he needs to get me out west on one of his Elk hunts..heck OR BOTH LOL..last year they went like 100% in there camp on elk! One nice bull, the rest were dwarfed by it (not an elk expert so bear with me LOL). I think John Jr is running the show in Little Canada....my wife bought a bow there 2 years ago when we were home. That was the year Sharon and J. Sr. came up fishing I think..that and probably a bou trip. Dunno if you know Eric Bergquist....he is my ole hunting partner. He grew up on the other side of Phalen and hung out with his ole man at Bwana. Now he is living in whitebear and I am sure is at Compound Doc often enuf......

here is my web page..also hopefully I fixed the dang typos LOL

I tell you I have shot the cabelas carbon stalkers for 2 years now. For the price I don't think you will find a better deal on internal component carbon arrows.

I like the Easton Carbon Evolutions, but I had a nock to come out while hunting over the weekend....it literally stayed on the string when I pulled the arrow to put it back into the quiver! Only time though.

I like ACC's the best myself. I like them better than the Bemans & carbon Express.

RE: which carbon?

AHHHHH, I wish gametracker had their webpage up and running to support their new arrow selection, They have taken care of the problem with the carbon welding to targets by putting a buff tuff substance on the arrows. Carbon is going faster when hitting a target and friction is used to stop the arrow, unfortunatly older carbon's were very grainy so the would pick up the back stop materials as the arrow was stopped, just think how much deeper they would go with a smooth surface. I shoot gametrackers for hunting, and I shoot ACE for Olym competition, I think that Easton charges to much for their arrow though.
Good shooting.

WOW!!! Of all the people. Yuppers we were going to get together, thought it didnt work out though, heck its been a few years. Been going crazy past few time I have been home! Last time I was home for a funeral, spent 3 days in the woods just to get away, ended up shootin 2 deer. One out at my paps house and one up in Hinckley.

All the girls had a crush on me...well dang now ya tell me !!! I try to stop by the high school to say thanks to Mr Hann for getting me my 'job' but every time I show up he is never there LOL....also what happened to Ms Siebert, I noticed her pic isnt up anymore?

I'll have to swing in the shop, I didnt last time I was home. My paps told Mike I was in town and they figured I would stop buy....the WIFE, yuppers got married, and I had ourselves run short trying to get together with family and some friends. I bring my bow home everytrip, heck I dont go anywhere without it. I will shoot ya an email maybe we can get ya on up to the last frontier! Its either that or I might be down the spring of 2003. Getting out of the service here this Aug (terminal leave) and it looks like I am taking up a guiding job for the big brown furry things. I think I'll have to end up a packer for awhile though! Anyways, Talk at ya.. Mr. K (I dont know it any other way! !!!

Hey, this is a carbon arrow post, not a family reunion! Just kidding fellas. I've been shooting Gold Tip arrows for 2 years now. I'm switching to Beman ICS Hunter's because I think the smooth finish will be quieter and I love that logo with the oak leaves. I'll never go back to aluminum. I shoot alot and am pretty rough on arrows, don't wanna have to worry about bending.

Hmmm... and I thought I wasa bowhunter...
You guys talk all this shop and make me feel reaaly uneducated.. for the arrow thing my preference is the Beemans, but only cause its the only graphite I ever bought and I still ahve em!
As for the rest... I only know that my poor ancient old bow with basic pinsights works, and when I was in practice ( lot longer ago than I care to admit ) I was target accurate to 60 yards.. which means I would have taken a hunting shot out to around 45... is this normal??

minnesota, head up to Chalstroms archery they can set you up with some nice Gold tip's and they are decently priced. I bought my Carbon Express' at Gander Mountain and literally got the shaft. Big$$$

Are you a member of the Duluth Archery club? I am just down the road from them. nice range for the money.

The PSE competitions pro's are the most weight and straight consistant carbons out there.
